With the signing of the ex-Bolton left-back - Alonso and the chase for the two Brighton players - Bridcutt and Buckley. Is this a sign that we are recruiting with the Championship in mind next season. Now I know next to nothing about these players, but surely to give ourselves a chance at staying, (getting slimmer), we should be looking at proven Premiership experience.

2nd point - Do we think that Gus will jump ship if we go down?

3rd point - What the hell is our Director of Football doing? We should have had signings lined up for the window opening. Missed out on Huddleston because of his Ineptitude, (being brilliant for Hull).

Huddlestone has a terrible record of games played over 3/4 season and goals scored ......... I don't know if there's any evidence that we tried to sign him.
Even if we did it doesn't mean the DOF was inept.

Huddleston has been immense for Hull. Granted he doesn't score a lot, but sat in the engine pulling the strings. He is the kind of player we could have done with. Not sure if we went for him, but we were linked and PDC said he was after an English born man at the heart of the team.

As for DOF. Don't how you can not think of him as inept. How many of the 14 players signed in the summer have made an impact?

Giac, Roberge, Diakte, Celustka have all had their parts to play, I expect more from Roberge and DIakte as the season progresses.

Ba, Maviras, Klarsson are youth players

Dossena I'm not a fan of, but without him our defensive choice would have been limited.

Altidore is an enigma. I like him as an all round player, but he cant score for us. Others have called him a "Heskey", but Heskey never scored on a international level, something that Alitidore has done quite regularly.

Ki. Dont think I need to say much there

Giac, Roberge, Diakte, Celustka have all had their parts to play - really you're happy with these players along with Cabral?

Cellustka has done alright when he's come in. Roberge and Diakte have only played due to injuries and are no better than the ones that went on frees at the end of last season. Giac has been very hot and cold - mostly cold.

I can't believe you're happy with the recruitment of these players.

Only time will tell with the 'Development Squad'.

We've gone down the route of signing proven premiership players such as Gardner, Larsson and Johnson yet they have been average to downright poor.

When I was a lad, nearly EVERY signing the top clubs made came from the lower leagues, players such as Rush, Souness, etc.

It's only recently that the clamour for foreign names or EPL journeymen has dominated transfer windows. Far from recruiting for the championship, I welcome a fresh direction.

I agree that the proven premiership players we have signed have not lived up to their potential, but I have no confidence in the players we have signed. Ki aside not a single one fills me with confidence. My fear is that we get relegated with this lot and then we have to build again.

Signings under Di Fanti : -

Marcos Alonso - Not played yet. Waiting to see.
Fabio Borin - Apart from Newcastle goal, not up to it
Andrea Dossena - don't think I need to say more
Sung-Yong Ki - Good loan signing
    Charalampos Mavria - development squad
Ondrej Celustka - hit and miss
    Emanuele Giaccherini - very disappointing
    El-Hadji Ba - development squad
Jozy Altidore - good general play, but not scoring
Vito Mannone - Come into team and done well
David Moberg Karlsson - development squad
    Cabral - not good enough
Valentin Roberge - no better than what we had, only played due to injuries
    Modibo Diakité - as above
    Duncan Watmore - development squad

Development players aside, only Celustka to a certain extent and Ki are good enough.

I like Giacherinni tbh but he needs time to adapt to our country and football. Stick with him and he will develop. He's a classy player IMO.

The same can be said for all the foreign lads coming to England for the first time. It's incredibly rare for foreign players to just come and be stars overnight for ANY club let alone ours. Patience is a virtue they say. That's why I think Gus is looking at British based ones as well.

Manone has been in the UK for some time now, as has Ki, which is why they have adapted immediately. It's not rocket science fellas.

    Cabral is a dissapointment.

Roberge and Diakte are good imo, its harsh to judge them when they come in to replace both Brown and O'Shea. I reckon a Brown and ROberge/Diakte partnership would do fine.

I dont expect all signings to work out. If 50% of Di Fanti's signings work out, then I'm happy. Especially as we didnt pay anything for most of them.

Poyet is someone who I believe in..He has got us playing a brand of football that I firmly believe will take us forward if given the chance..If he believes that these signings will take us forward then I will back him..
It must be pretty hard to recruit players to our club given the growing **** reputation of our supporters within the game..It must be a bloody nightmare to play in front of a crowd who are so bloody critical and non supportive..

even more than that, it must be hard to recruit when you're bottom of the league

That doesn't help either..The fact is that we are not in a position to attract tried and tested top class players, and we have got to rely on attracting up and coming players from the lower leagues..A clone of Kevin Phillips wouldn't go amiss..

Marcos Alonso - Not played yet. Waiting to see. Agreed
Fabio Borin - Apart from Newcastle goal, not up to it Really? Started slowly but has looked good IMO
Andrea Dossena - don't think I need to say more. Decent against the mags (you picked that out for Borini but forgot for him)
Sung-Yong Ki - Good loan signing Agreed
    Charalampos Mavria - development squad
Ondrej Celustka - hit and miss Has been decent IMO
Emanuele Giaccherini - very disappointing EH??? Really? Has been a shining light for us IMO
    El-Hadji Ba - development squad
Jozy Altidore - good general play, but not scoring
Vito Mannone - Come into team and done well
David Moberg Karlsson - development squad
Cabral - not good enough Only played ONE PL game - how do you know?
Valentin Roberge - no better than what we had, only played due to injuries Who was "as good as him" for the same money (wages etc.) - better "footballing" centre half than anyone we already had
Modibo Diakité - as above as above
Duncan Watmore - development squad BUT PROMISING

On Giaccherini - I think he is a little too clever for most of our players a lot of the time. He plays a clever pass but the players around him can';t read that - he kind of reminds me of Beardsley when he went to Hartlepool - he was playing the passes that worked at Newcastle but the players around him weren't able to calculate things in the gamer as quickly as he could

I dont see what Giacc has that Sess didnt. Blows hot and cold.

Should of kept Sess, so when Giacc has an off day at least we could have thrown Sess in.

Let's give Gus time to buy HIS players, and from what division and country he sees fit.The flops we have, apart from Altidore, are our so-called "old-squad",such as Gardner,Vaughan,Ji,and Larsson!

Are you implying Gus Poyet has given up? Because Bridcutt and Buckley will be Poyet signings 100% So if we are preparing for the championship it would mean Gus himself has given up. If he has given up, why would he prepare for the championship if was going to jump ship?

No mate I don't think we're preparing for the championship, I don't think Gus would jump ship unless a dream job was offered and the reason we haven't signed many people is because we're only 6 days into the window. Transfers depend on the agreement of multiple parties. Clubs, players, agents. They'll sign when they can be signed.

Agreed. I think that Borini has looked a class apart from the rest of the team. He can control and hold the ball, get shots on target, makes runs to take defenders away from others and chases back and does his defensive duties well and without complaint.
