I’ve been listening to some of the diatribe about “the worst performance I’ve ever seen” and thought I would take time out to think how bad it really is.
Firstly I am not going to say that we aren’t bad, as everyone and the table know, things could be a lot better, yet having seen 2 championship winning teams and all the teams before and after, are we really that bad.

So 17 games played with 9 defeats.
Wolves 4 – 0 Gills the game that we were totally outclassed in and looked like a team 2 divisions below.

Shrewsbury 2 – 0 Gills. Conceded early then had to chase the game and fell for a late sucker punch.

Every other game was decided by just one goal, score 1 goal or defend one goal and things could look very different, so score 7 or defend 7 or any combination of those during the 7 single goal defeats and we would be talking of playoffs rather than relegation.

So we aren’t that far away, sign one or two decent midfielder’s so that the defence are protected and the forwards are supported and survival could be a realistic and comfortable achievement.

The Gillingham FC training scoring session is starting to get warmed up...so far they've managed to pop out all the windows behind but sadly no ball in an open goal yet...but don't worry still plenty of time before Stevenage tomorrow night...lol

    Q1 ... Answer - Yes.
Colchester 0-1 Colchester should have scored a lot more.
Wolves 0-4 It could have been a cricket score - and I don't mean the sort of score by the England cricket team in Australia.
    Brentforod 1-1
Swindon 2-2 Both games - a good performance - could have gone either way.
Crawley 2-3 Lost from a winning position against 10 men - then showed no fight in the last quarter of the game - a disgrace.
Coventry 1-2 Woeful performance. Nelson stopped it being a lot worse.
Bradford 0-1 very little creativity ( where have you heard that before )
Crewe 3-0 Crewe will go down !
MK Dons 3-2 Given a 2-0 ( 2 penalties lead & 10 men ) we made hard work of the win - which, if Dons had a bit more luck could have not been ours !
Shrewsbury 0-2 Shrewsbury were very ordinary. Gills created nothing.
Preston 1-2 Gills only began 'trying' when 0-2 & could have retrieved a point - but left it too late. Why ?
Notts County 2-1 Better ! (County bottom of league) - but if Campbell-Rice had better support it would have been very different. Would have him in the Gills team.
Port Vale 1-2 Another game lost from a winning position. Gills were nowhere good enough on the day to craft an equaliser.
Carlisle 1-0 Poor 1st half ( fans booed at half time) early 2nd half penalty won the game where Gills spent much time camped in our half.
Sheffield Utd 2-1 Got lucky in first 20 minutes. We endured a lot of attacks -from which really Utd should have scored to be out of sight. Good performance after that.
Oldham 0-1 An absolute pile of s**t
Would you like me to comment about our wonderful cup performances ?

7 goals either way - you're making me laugh. Trust me - some of the scorelines have flattered us - things could very easily be a whole lot worse. ( don't worry on THAT account - there's plenty of time )

Always I also would love Campball Ryce to join us, he has superb against us and we gave him a standing ovation. But he is a bit of a problem player has had quite a few disagreements with managers so could be fantastic and lift the team or could be the catalyst for relagation

I know what you mean. He's probably the sort of player that needs others of the same pedigree or better than himself to bring out the best in him - unfortunately he wont find it at Gillingham at the moment... I understand that he had a reasonable game in Notts County defeat at Shrewsbury at the weekend - just goes to show that a team cannot rely on just one player ( although Nelson is certainly helping to limit the damage )

erm...i don't wish to be unkind to the player and he deserved his ovation, the only concern i have is that he turns into a Kuffour...

brb I understand you ! - that's why I mentioned the point that C-R would need players of similar or superior ability to bring out the best in him. I would like to think that with C-R in the Gills team it would be more the case of another Frank Nouble type situation. However we still need to have the creativity to be able to provide the service to the strikers. We haven't got that - hence ( part of ) the reason why Cody is not scoring as he did a couple of seasons ago.

Well with the introduction of ***an and Mousinho maybe that creativity could change? Albeit it didn't sound like it on saturday. I'm pretty sure Campbell-Ryce usually plays well against us. I remember him doing causing quite a few problems for us when he was st Rotherham back in the championship days. Maybe just another Izale McLeod in that respect?
