As a supporter for over 50 years I've seen a lot of false dawns and broken promises. Our current squad has togetherness that I haven't seen since Reidy's days. Almost daily there are quotes in the media about players being happy to sign New contracts and others happy to extend theirs. Watmore, Defoe, Manoni, PVA all signed up, Kirchoff apparently happy to extend his contract, young Asoro who seemed to have the pick of a lot of big clubs chose us and appears to be blooming.. Our hickup over SA suddenly seems old news, I wasn't mad keen on taking David Moyes but he seems to have settled well and players seem glad to have him. We've had the Stadium and AOL set up for some years now which are both superb, a successful junior set up with exciting prospects hopefully on the brink of the first team squad, it seems to me that the final link for the club to progress is our first team on the pitch and I can feel it in my water that finally we might have all the pieces of the puzzle in place. Get M'Vila in, tie down Kone to a longer contract and this could be our time, I can't wait for the season to start, bring it on.
No new additions yet. So basically the same as we were at the moment. Mind in order to progress, i have much more faith is Moyes than SA. But the squad is wafer thin at present.
I get your point Comm but I'm sure the club are trying to address that issue. Please can I have a couple of days of optimistic bliss in my little world.
I'm buzzing about the club right now, apart from the fact ****ing M'Vila is still not official, sort it out you ****ersssssss. Losing Sam was a blow, but it seems the players have taken it in their stride and the appointment of an arguably higher profile manager immediately eliminated any need for panic. Comm nails a key, key point for me, I think most of us agreed that Allardyce would have a ceiling of maybe 8=12th, and that was alright for now as it was progress. Moyes has taken a club, only marginally bigger than ours, into Europe multiple times on a smaller budget. Moyes rejected a fair few jobs and looks genuinely delighted to be here, and that is always a big thing to us, we want people to get the club, to get the size, the absolute volume of adoration and dependence we have on it. The players, likewise, seem to have thought 'good ****ing shout Moyes', there's been no blips apart from the Kone rumours, which I don't see as an issue anyway as, again, Kone has 'bought in'. We've a real platform here, we have some genuine quality in the squad, far more than many team around us, and the players Sam brought in were balanced. We have one of the best CB pairings you will see, outsiders will laugh, but we know that when KK are together we are rock, rock solid, was it 1 defeat in 15 games when they are together? Kirchoff plays like he's on autopilot, effortless, you can see the Bayern, Khazri has been superb, great feet, vision, can shot. Defoe is a machine. Add to that the graft of Borini (people ****ing hate playing against him, no mistake), solidity of Vito, the ever improving PVA, we are in great ****ing shape, we really are. We've seen in pre-season, at long last, a whole raft of young lads looking capable, Robson, Gooch, Greenwood, Asori, and more. Add Lens, if he can use his incredible ability, you know we are in fine, fine shape with 3 or 4 more. Oh, and we aren't being bummed by Fletcher or Graham... I think everything the club has done this summer has been well handled, bar ****ing Yann!!!!!. Sam and England was always gonna effect transfers, but the Euro's slowed the market too. I can't wait for the Boro game (I think Pep's first game may be a write off....)
Nads, Just what I was saying but said a lot better than I did, One or two additions plus M'Vila tied down and its, happy days, for me, can't wait.
Mmmmmm - not sure that came through Be great if we can land the lad - think the next 10 days or so will be interesting. Hopefully by then we have M'villa and at least 1 more, probes a CF.
