Apart from Borrowdale, who may or may not get a contract, I think any more signings are unlikely. I can't see us getting a centre back because it looks as if Egan will get one spot and either Barrett or Legge competing for the other position, and Davies also with a chance. Midfield ,I reckon is done and dusted, with one or two of them able to drop back to full back if and when one is needed. I'd like to see another striker though. Norris is a bit inexperienced, and I feel we need a more experienced striker to push Keds and Cody, but as I said,I can't see that happening now. Taylor has said the door is open for more signings if someone suddenly appears, but I think thats more in hope than anything.
I reckon we may see one or maybe even two more players join before the end of preseason. As you said, Borrowdale is one who looks like he may be an exception to the rule as Taylor seems desperate to sign him but Gary seems to just be dragging his feet in regard to fitness which infuriates me greatly but that's another story. The reason why I think we may get another player or two though the door that there will be a lot of players knocking around right now on trial at all sorts of clubs but as we have seen many times, being on trial is nowhere near being signed to a professional contract meaning that there may be a few very talented players who with about 10 days to go till the start of the season have failed to earn a contract and need to find a club With Peter Taylor having possibly the best web of knowledge and contacts of all the managers in this league I think we may get a few players that are probably capable of playing higher. At least that is what a take from Taylor saying if someone 'suddenly appears' but I could be wrong. I wouldn't be surprised to see a centre half get signed near the very start of the season in very much a similar way to the way Hessenthaler brought Matt Lawrence to the club as honestly if you had to pick one position that concerned you right now it would only really be a choice between RB and CB.
I reckon any more signings will purely be loans. Possibly a season-long one of a CB or RB before the season starts, otherwise just as and when needed to cover injuries or if something aint working. Can't see any more transfers happening (unless someone leaves that is).
PT said last night after the game he is still looking to bring one more defender in before the start of the season if he can. Has his eye on 3 different players but no firm offers on the table as yet.......
If I believe correctly, we will be signing a new player today. That's what I think I've seen in reports, has anyone else heard this too?
We have a trialist playing called Liam Marss, plays for Boston, had reviews saying he was far too good for the level they play at which is conference north I believe. Plays right back, young (21) and was at Sunderland for his career before being loaned to Boston, then released by Sunderland and signed permanently by Boston. Was playing well until he had a bad knee injury that ruled him out. Last game he played was December 29th. Maybe Eggan recomended him, thoughts?
