Don't know if it's official, but if we are appealing the red card then it can ONLY be to pi$$ off our friends in the hope his ban doesn't kick in until after the weekend!" <laugh>

No way will it be rescinded.

Norwich appealed, it's on skysports website now that we're appealing too.

Good idea imo. I can't believe they'll add a 4th match ban for them handbags. It would make absolutely no sense with what other stuff has been overturned recently.

Remy will probably play on saturday then. No way will they decide by tomorrow.

Might be unlikely, but it would be funny if he did play tomorrow after the mackems have been laughing about him being out and us not having a sriker.

It is official... it's on the official website.
We are appealing.
Looks like one way or another Remy will start on SAturday after all.
Worse case if it's a frivelous appeal... he'll get a two match ban starting AFTER the SAFC game... I think....

Isn't it 3 for a straight red for violent conduct? So he'd miss games vs Chelsea, Spurs & Villa. Is it possible he can get an extra one for an 'audacious appeal'?

I'm not too sure mate.
Joking aside, the FA will probably hear the case tomorrow so there would still be a likelihood that he would miss the Mackem game if it is upheld. If not upheld he plays.
We should have waited until tomorrow to lodge the appeal.

The reds were a joke.I didn't think what happened justified a yellow.

A joint statement backed by ourselves, A Love Supreme, Fans United, NUST, Ready To Go, Roker Report, Seventy3, #time4change, The Mag, True Faith and Wise Men Say:

"Two weeks ago fans’ groups and fanzines from Newcastle United and Sunderland launched a successful joint campaign to say “no” to bubble matches.

"Now both sets of fans are linking up to restore pride in the Tyne-Wear derby, championing a white-hot atmosphere and sporting rivalry while rejecting violence.

"Recent seasons have seen an unwelcome level of hatred and disorder around derby games.

"Genuine fans don't want the authorities to have any excuse to cut ticket allocations or restrict travel in future seasons, we just want a game to remember.

"We can keep the passion, but lose the poison. Let's make this a derby to be proud of."

Both Newcastle United and Sunderland AFC have also given their backing to "A Derby To Be Proud Of".

Theres a lot of confusion over when the hearing will be. If on Monday... Remy plays Saturday.

The appeal probably indicates Gouff may not figure.

Doesn't an appeal at this stage mean that Remy could be available for Saturday? There's no chance of it being rescinded, but nor is it serious enough to warrant an extension on the punishment, so I think we've left it and - as Norwich have appealed - decided we should to. If the hearing isn't scheduled in the next day or two, Remy is free to play Saturday. That's my take on it.

I could be wrong (even I am sometimes), but I think one of the things that can trigger the extra game ban is deliberately leaving the appeal so late that the players play in a game they would otherwise be banned for. I don't think it will be rescinded but could turn out to be a good idea if the ban is served when others are back and available.

It sounds to me like the red card is a bit of a farce which takes effect depending on how important the next game is and decided by the offending player someone should have informed Sunderland of this loophole earlier in the season that Newcastle are intending to slither through
