As per the title really chaps. I'm of the opinion that they are a restrictive burden on clubs. Other walks if life don't have recruitment windows do why football?
I guess they were introduced to stop the big rich clubs from going out near the end of the season to buy a player (s) that could tip the balance in winning/buying the title. I don't see them as a problem either way personally and they always create a lot of speculation, debate, disagreement and excitement amongst supporters. I cant see that as a bad thing. I also believe deep down that most managers like them really as they become the centre of attention or 4 weeks and have the opportunity to improve and secure their own positions and plans. I guess I'm saying that transfer windows work for me okay.
Agree with them to a certain extent. Also believe that the windows should open at the end of one season and, be closed at the start of the next season not 2/3 weeks into it. The windows for me don't affect the big teams as they will always be a bigger attraction to players than teams like us.
I don't like them. They artificially inflate players values towards the end of the window. If the reason for having them is to stop the big boys buying the league , it's not working. Man City and Chelsea would have won jack **** the last ten years without their sugar daddies digging very deeply into their very deep pockets. Why not limit the number of transfers per club , per season. Just like your fantasy league teams do. If you decide to use them all up by Xmas , don't whine when you pick up injuries/suspensions. If you hold onto some transfers till Easter for a final assault , you risk dropping points early in the season.
It used to be (I think) the transfers were available throughout the season up until the last Thursday in March - This was much better than the way it is now IMO. If you end up with a bad injury to a couple of required members of the squad on the 1st September then you have no chance of signing anyone - I also think it'll bring down the price of players and put clubs on a better financial footing than they currently are. As ACS said - if a company wants me to work for them and tries to head hunt me, they aren't limited to when they can do it - they can do it on any day of the year and pay my current employers to take my services (although if my current employers caught me on here they might pay to get rid of me) Why is football any different?
I like the excitement but hate the over priced players because of it.Deadline day is class and im off on thursday so will be glued to the tele all day.
