Martin Atkinson sent Wes Brown off last week for what was only a yellow-card offence. This week,he sends two Stoke players off, which effectively gave the game to Newcastle Utd.Is he a closet NUFC fan,or does he not like teams in red and white stripes,or is he bent and part of a greater conspiracy??Bent as a nine-bob note???
Wow, obviously watching MOTD & remembered this thread. Now, this is not anti-Toon, not there fault, but what an actually stunning show of refereeing. How can someone get so much wrong? It's staggering. For what it's worth, I have no doubt they'd have won that game anyway, and it may well favour us, Stoke could easily drop back into the mire.
i'd be livid if i was Mark Hughes. but after what happened with us down there he can go fcuk himself. how Cabaye - and Rooney - continue to get away with murder is beyond me though.
absolutely right, i couldnt give a **** what they do except win the league of course, but atkinson and his peeps were shocking today, just another display of controversy. How can these elite people continue to get **** so wrong
The first red was certainly dodgy. The first yellow card should not have happened. The 2nd red was spot on. Our second goal should not have stood either. That said, we don't usually get the decision so it makes a nice change PS. Good win today chaps
Cheers No question the second red was a red like, but the first yellow, the goal, shocking. Brought back a nice memory seeing Tommy save a pen at St James' like, even if he thereafter had a stinker
The first yellow card was overly harsh. The player was stupid going in like that already on a yellow though, the ref created a problem for himself. Second red, the player was through on goal, no other option. The ref was right infront of the defender who mada a blatent handball leading to a goal. What was the linesman lookinh at/where was he positioned to not see the ball had gone over the line, again leading to a goal. Second penalty similar to the first red card. Did it get a yellow? Stupid tackle. The game spiralled out of control from the first incorrect yellow given to Whelan. Hughes jas every right to feel aggrieved. As for us, we did what was needed against a team full of confidence losing only their second game all season to the team that remained bottom. Clawing our way back in to thingd.
this bad refereeing has been going on for years but now they get paid and the games are analysed it just goes to show how bad they really are.
