Without Matty we are hopeless. Proved it against lowly Brighton too. When he was on we were ripping them apart. When he went off we grabbed one more goal from the momentum we were on and that was it. I honestly can't see where the goals are going to come from as we don't seem to be able to score from open play. Even if we do manage to get our noses in front our wonderful tactician of a manager will take off the main threat players and bring on the "supposed" batten down the hatches players and sit back whilst they bombard us for an eventual equaliser. Don't want to sound like a broken record but I genuinely believe TP has got us in trouble!
We need Matty and Jermaine to play at the same time to cause any kind of threat, but to be honest Matty hasn't been at his best all season and that has had a detrimental effect on the team this season
I'm with you there Waddo, I now think we have gone as far as we can with this negative football thing. We just don't look like scoring at all.
Waddo Legend, Well pointed out. Good observation there, we do lack that something without Matty on the wing. The team (I) really miss him, and think he's an asset. I wouldn't go AS far, as too say we were a ONE MAN team, as you have to think about our defence.
Just watched is after match interview and he really believes that we played well today. I sometimes wonder what colour the sky is, in "Pulis World?"
In Pulisworld: "We did smashing until the first goal and to concede such a poor goal was disappointing, then two goals in 10 minutes killed the game. "Matty Etherington gave us a lot more impetus but we needed goal and we didn't get it. Even in our two previous games, we haven't played that badly but we're getting our pants pulled down and our bottoms slapped for every mistake we make." "We haven't had certain amounts of luck, be it from officials or from players making decisions, but you have to take it on the chin and get on with it and be ready for the next game." In the REAL world; "We had a very poor time out there today, Asmir should have came and caught the ball but chose the wrong option, he holds his hands up and is gutted about it. I thought I sent the wrong players out there today, I knew I made a mistake when Avram had to remind me that Delap isn't a winger on ANY flank. I really wanted to start with Matty but thought he might create chances and cause problems for the opposition and that's not what we're about, not at all". "I need to stop moaning on about the officials, at the end of the day the match was lost on the pitch with the lads not performing and West Ham taking advantage it has nothing to do with the officials, I made the wrong substitutes as well and Jermaine wasn't happy with being taken off".
inverness absolutely spot on Apart from i'd add TP: i'm the one who got us into this mess, and i'm the one to keep us in this mess
Exactly. Just another way in which Wenger and Pulis are similar, despite what many Stokies would like to believe.
Sgt, how do you do one of them polls? was wondering if the TP lovers would come in 6th place & lose their deposit. PS what are these bar things below peoples names?
From the FAQ page: How do I create a new poll? When you post a new thread, you may also have the option to create a poll. This allows you to ask a question and specify a number of possible responses. Other members will then be able to vote for the response they wish, and the results of the voting will be displayed in the thread. An example poll might be: What is your favorite color? Red Blue Yellow Green Sky-blue Pink with yellow spots To create a poll when you post a new thread, simply click the 'Yes, post a poll with this thread' checkbox at the bottom of the page, and set the number of possible responses you want to include. When you click the submit button, you will be taken to the poll creation page, where you can specify the question and the list of responses you want to include. You may also want to specify a time limit for the poll, so that (for example) it stays open for voting for only a week.
Nail and head there Tom. I have a feeling we may be seeing the Pulis of old coming back out of his shell. Talks to reporters when it suits him and when he wants the attention, doesn't pick the better more skillful players and cares too much about player loyalty. He also has a habit of giving the flair players/fan favourites a hard time as they will try something special to turn the game on its head. Patrik Berger and Tuncay are situations too similar. I really liked Hoefkens as well but we all know how that one turned out.
The odd thing with the Hoef was Pulis, towards the end of the 06/07 season, played him on the right wing, which I thought at the time was a master-stroke as Hoef scored a couple of goals and generally looked dangerous. Then he was sold, when I thought Pulis might try to persevere with him. I was gutted as can be when he left
Typical Pulis, something he does clearly works then he'll throw everyone a "curveball" and he'll do something very strange. I'm glad that Hoefkens left us in a way, he's excelled his career and is now the captain of Club Brugge.
