With Moyes pondering leaving Merseyside for 3PL; it got me thinking.

Are 5puds really a bigger club than Everton?

Everton have won nine league titles; two as recently in the 80s in colour TV.

They have a great history. Formed before Spurs. Bigger stadium etc...

And if Spurs lose Modric and even Bale, their squad is not better than the Toffees squad too.

Why would Moyes want the job? he should stay at Everton to complete the Merseyside power shift

Good point. I think it's clear that historically Everton are bigger.

Moyes is definitely up there with the best British managers--and if push came to shove I'd have taken him if Robbie hadn't got the job! I hate to say it ,but money is master now and it surprises me that Everton aren't competing moneywise to make sure they keep him!

    Well history is history.

But these days I'd say that Spurs are the bigger club that are more likely to achieve than Everton.

Would the 5puds job be a step up for Moyes?

Spurs are not a 'bigger' club, they just have a little more resources at the moment and have a better side. Basically in the last 20 years both clubs have won very little and only each qualified for the C.L once. Agree Spurs are probably more likely to achieve but things can change very quickly in football. Man City aren't bigger than Liverpool are they?!

No I don't think so. Spurs are still just as likely to win a major trophy as Everton i.e not likely. He's loved at Everton and does a great job on a shoe string.

I'm shocked no one has come in and bought Everton though. Great fan base and history, in a big traditional football city. Has a 'man city' written all over it!!

Interesting debate, very similar sized clubs, I believe that the sheiks who bought £ity looked at Everton too but the free stadium swung it £itys way. Spurs would argue that in Joe Lewis they already have an incredibly wealthy owner, looking at Spurs V Everton over the last 5/6 years you would probably have to say that it is a slight step up, but I just have a feeling Moyes will stay at Everton, though he may just be ready for a new challenge and if he does move I think that he might actually make Spurs harder to beat.

I think Spurs have the better squad at the moment and would have more resources for Moyes to play with so would probably be a good move if he wanted to further his career and have a chance at winning a trophy or getting Champions League football.
Saying that Spurs will find it hard to get top 4 again next year what with Manc x 2, Arsenal and Chelsea in the mix aswell as Liverpool who will spend big and have a new manager this summer.

Historically Everton have been in the top division longer than us and for more seasons in total. I think they have won 9 titles to our 2 so that makes them more successful, but we've won more domestic cups and (I think) more European trophies. Since the prem started Everton and Spurs have been pretty even... Everton have won an FA cup and lost a final had 3 or 4 top 6 finishes and 1 top 4 while spurs have won 2 carling cups and lost a cc final, had 3 top 5 finishes and 2 top 4 finishes...in recent years (2005/6 til now) spurs have finished above Everton every year bar 1 so in that sense spurs are in a slightly better position. Spurs seem to be in a much healthier position financially than Everton which gives us an advantage.
I would consider Spurs to be on an equal footing size wise and trophy wise (titles excepted) as Everton. There is no absolute reason as to why their manager would leave them for us.

The only thing that would make Moyes leave Everton for the Spuds is the fact that he's worked miracles every season at Everton with no money. He must be getting tired of this but definitely NOT a step up going to Tottenham.

    I disagree to be honest.
He will have a better squad and will finally get a transfer kitty at Spurs. I would call that a step up, not a HUGE one, not like going from say Swansea to Liverpool for example but a step up nonetheless

Well yeah Spurs aint minted, but it looks like they are going to have to finally sell Modric, so Moyes should have atleast 30-40 million to play with.
He was lucky to get 40 quid per summer with Everton let alone 40 million.

Well it was just a wind up really but don't want to see Moyes with the spuds cos he's a top manager and will only improve on what that two-faced slimy no good twitchy **** did.

I guess it comes down to how you define 'bigger' - if indeed it can be defined.

Very loosely I see Spurs as bigger than Everton at the moment as they appear to be better funded, currently have a better squad and are nibbling away at playing on a bigger stage. Everton are a top of the middle portion of the PL team going nowhere imo.

Man City vs Liverpool? Well Liverpool on a historical basis but right now I'd say Man City. On the pitch and financially they are streets ahead of Liverpool and at this moment in time they are way bigger.
