I'd be very interested in people's views. I think nuclear, especially Thorium if it becomes feasible, is the future and we can never replace fossil fuel with renewables.
Renewables are an important part of the energy mix but can't replace fossil fuels or nuclear power stations without some form of storage system. Pumped hydro, batteries or similar but there are inefficiencies in both of these.
Using renewables means we all pay way too much for energy as we have to pay green taxes to subsidise wind power that produces next to nothing when its windy and nothing when its not windy. The seascape in many oarts of the country looks crazy and the beauty spots too with giant wind turbines a blot on the landscape and they kill birds of prey. Rolls Royce have perfected mini nuclear plants and that should be the way to go, not using China or France to rip us off. And we have an abundance of shale gas to make sure we dont get held to ransom by Russia like the Germans are
We are no where near perfecting renewable energy. It's a relatively new source that is still in its infancy. As research and development continue I would expect it to improve beyond recognition. That's not to say that we can fully rely on it in future, just that as time moves on it will become a bigger slice. Don't get me started on electric cars. We are no where near getting that right.
something that the BBC and mainstream media neglected to talk about this week was Mitsibushi pulling all their European operations including UK. They stated that because the EU had already destroyed the petrol engine and told us all to get into diesel and then they now destroy the diesel engine too, we have decided to leave Europe until it gets some sense back. We will sell our vehicles where they are needed and wanted, electric is a pipe dream and hopefully the EU will be destroyed by sensible people in European countries. Brilliant
Got to say, it’s my own fault I know but (when I’m walking round from the back of my van) twice I’ve nearly been hit by an electric car, they need to put a vroom vroom speaker on them
No, I'm with you on that. I do alot of running and the amount of times a car reverses out of a blind driveway across the pavement and it doesn't make a sound. I've nearly been run over multiple times. They are too quiet.
