Are Ireland the worst team from the British Isles ever to represent us in a major tournament? England 88 were bad, Ireland 90 bad, England 92 worse, Scotland 98 even worse, but Ireland 2012 take the biscuit
It's actually the Republic of Ireland as there are 2 countries on the island of Ireland. But I would say yes RoI 2012 was shambolic but hilarious to watch at the same time.
Were not part of the 'british isles' but ye we were pants alright-Ireland italia 90 wern't a bad side mind you. This england team is the worse i've ever seen though-tough times ahead for both sides.
The Ireland side in Italia 90 was so boring; two goals in five games v matches including Romania and Eygpt! The Italian press voted them the worst side of the competition England 92 were worse than England now
Colonies still tend to have their own anthem and flag. NI has neither, it is technically a semi-autonomous nation state
Didn't Ireland get to the last 8 in 1990, under Jack Charlton. That was hardly a poor effort!* Scotland have never even got past the group stage of any tournament, I can't remember the last time Scotland produced even 1 top class player.* Be fair to Ireland this year, they had a nightmare group, the world champions, a pretty good Italian side, as England found out, and Croatia who put up a great effort against Italy and Spain. They are a decent side aswell *
Mostly agree with you and I'm guessing you're not old enough to remember Kenny Dalglish or Gordon Strachan in their playing days so I'll let you off with that one observation
Wit ye talkin aboot man, Craig Levein is turning Scotland in tae a pure dead brilliant amzing 4-6-0 side. It the future like Gralic Bread, even the Spanish are copying us!
