After watching yet another dismal England display it makes me wonder if our poor showings are any worse that our nation squad? A new manager who promised changes and a more fluid squad due to the assortment of new players waiting their turn to take the stage for another sh**e show that angers the viewers sounds all too familiar doesn't it? A new dawn turned into a very dark day for England as they are no better today than they were many years ago, and again that all sounds so Bristol City. Walking football at a snail's pace crossing the ball endlessly backwards and across the pitch followed by many occasions where there was not a single forward player in the opposition penalty area, so how on earth can you expect a goal? Today was exactly the same as watching and seeing Bristol City trying their hardest to win a game with foolish decisions and boring game management to round off the disappointment of seeing my team play like garbage. When and will it ever end?

P.S. My thoughts are with the Baldock family after the sad passing of George today in Greece at such a young age. The Baldock name has a history at Ashton Gate and today he lost his brother. So very sad. R.I.P.

I watched a bit of the game and thought ‘this is just like watching City’.

I wish I’d watched the Gibraltar game. I nearly did. They beat San Marino 1-0.

Mike i turned over that was rubbish -it reminded me of the Manningball we see at the gate.

Boring and how the hell the inexperienced Lee Carsley has this job is beyond crazy.

I reckon a lower prem side-top championship side would have given Greece a game.

Thought exactly the same, just like watching Manningball.
Could play all day knocking it sideways and back but absolutely nothing top end.

Why do the tactics used by many clubs today bore the pants off the viewers? Is it not possible to watch the best teams play and then adapt your model to that style bearing in mind the players that you have available.? The game as played by Bristol City is old hat and jaw droppingly unwatchable, land as we all know very well it will never get us the success, or even become competitive, unless someone shakes the whole scenario up and makes dramatic changes. Until the end of October through to mid-November would be my charge to Liam to radically improve our performances or decisions will need to be made by those who think they know best.

I honestly didn’t think Nige’s football was that exciting (unless you count the regular soiling of underwear in the last 10 minutes of his games, worrying if the opposition is going to score).

We was hard to beat did not score many due to Semenyo gone and no reinvestment as i was crying out for. I do believe we had the fourth best defence in the championship under Nige-just no goal scorers

Have to agree, I think it was due to necessity at times, he realised the only chance we had against teams with much superior players was to be tight at the back, be difficult to break down, and hope to nick it. But we weren’t exciting under him. LM though bores me senseless, possession based is ok if you have good technical players and the transition and passing is quick, we don’t have technical players and much of the possession is just passing for the sake of it,and going nowhere. It’s very boring to watch.

Nearly correct, we did have forth best defence. But you are forgetting one thing. Nige was only here for 14 games (16 goals conceded) Manning was here for 32 (34 goals conceded) games. Don’t worry loads of people forget that the bigger majority of last season was down to Manning.

Concentrating on forwards and not having a good protector of the back four. Should have looked at getting in a player that could be a fitter Matty James as he was not going to stay. Someone who can be an outlet as well to prevent silly mistakes playing it out.

Think they were hoping Williams would do that role.

It's a challenging task to have both. From memory, we have seen this before, in Nige's first season we struggled for goals but were tighter at the back, he then tweaked the attack and we scored more goals, but we shipped in a load as well. We are now seeing this with LM; last season, we didn't score a lot, but we had the 4th best defence in the division; this season, he has tried to address the goals and has largely failed so far, and we have got slightly worse at the back.

LM is a young manager, which is what the board have primarily always gone after, and he's not quite hit the mark yet, but, as I keep saying, neither did the vastly experienced Perason, regardless of what people on this or other forums say, the facts and league positions speak for themselves. In season 3, in particular, he was given well over £5m to spend on players and around £2m in his first full season when we had ZERO income as a football club; that was a lot in real terms, probably pro-rota more than LM spent this summer. Also, in his first season with ZERO income, he handed out the largest contract, £27.5k a week, that this club has ever given to a player, Matty James. I believe he had to buy L1 and L2 players to stay within the wage limit of FPP due to the James contract.

Not on that salary we don't, it hampered us improving in other areas for me. Some may even call it nepotism to give such a large contract at that difficult financial time to a player he had a big connection with...

He was good for us though, but he just couldn't play 46-50 games a season anymore by the time he came to us, and for that money we had to have someone who could.

My point was, under Nige we didn’t improve as he spent the bulk of the money on wages for James, therefore has to buy L1 & L2 players to fill up the squad within budget.
