In the most seemingly contrived competition ever, City Reserves have been taking part in a round robin style mini-league for some kind of cup. The first match was 8 - 0 win agen Scunny. Then a 6 - 1 defeat at Hartlepool, followed by a 4 - 1 win at Gateshead and a 2 - 2 draw with Sunderland. Does anyone know if we have qualified for another round of mini-league matches, or is it now down to knock out, or indeed ducks and drakes off hessle foreshore with the most bounces winning the trophy? Maybe there'll be a plate competition using the same mini-league principle. Whichever happens, I cant imagine an open top bus parade if we win!!
I was wondering the same thing after the Sunderland match Mussie, but after googling back then couldn't find any info. I suppose something will come up on the OWS eventually, I hope we still are in it as its the only chance our reserves get to play against Prem League opposition.
these newletters seem to be the only reference: http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/ReserveLeagueDetail/0,,10794~2424325,00.html
Don't know, but they should be playing in the FA Cup next week to give the first team chance to recharge and regroup for the next round of league games.
I don't know anything about this competition but the question got me thinking how few reserve matches we play these days compared to the old days. No excuses for McShane's performance against Burnley but it makes you wonder whether there are enough reserve games to meet the requirement of getting fringe players match fit and offering out of form players enough games to sharpen up.
Fukme our strikers don't need resting they need more fukking practice, get them on the field against Ipswich!!!
