Man Utd have been plunged into so much debt by, the Glazers, that they are now scratting around in the bargain basement (with us) to find replacements for Scholes and Giggs combined age nearly 80
Liverpool changing managers, once again, and finishing below Everton, which for them must be classed as a disaster.
Aston Villa sold off their best players last summer and so nearly got relegated.
Arsenal, to be honest none of us know, where we are going, the fans are not considered important enough to be told whats happening, our chairman is a privileged numpty and our board are sycophantic yes men.

Is there a pattern emerging here?

They dont know anything about football, they are not fans and are only looking after their own interests. They dont even care about the clubs they own as long as they are making a profit. Say what you will about a owner like Abramovich but at least he shows an interest in his club and wants to win Chelsea.

Silent Stan on the other hand is very happy with just finishing in the top four because he's making a killing in terms of the money he gets back. Every year we are intially told that there is money to spend (50 Milllion etc) but whenever it comes to the transfer markets we are always told that we dont have the money to compete with the big clubs, so were is all the money going then?

Stan is taking it for himslef, thats what I think at least which is why I wanted Usmanov who like Abramovich wants to win trophys and is not afraid to invest in the club.

Disagree with Utd in the "bargain basement", if the rumours are true they're really pulling out all the stops for players this summer. We spent nearly 50 million last summer on players (albeit not exactly great players) so we can splash the cash- I guess Wenger just doesn't wanna go over the odds for a player. As for American owners, I think Stan is pretty much in it for a business investment rather than a team for sure, but I guess the same could be said for his owning of the St Louis Rams as well, seeing as he struck a deal with them to play at Wembley for a game a year for the next few years, so it might just be his attitude to sports in general...

As someone above stated you can say whatever you like about Roman but you can't say he doesn't care about the club. He is a fan and lives and breathes it.

He ploughs money into the club whereas Americans take money out of them. Commercially the Premier League is bigger than anything they have even the Superbowl.

Look at the state of corporate America, in particular Wall Street, and you will get an emphatic answer.

I would have to say, I can't see any good in having an American owner, they totally don't get football and the fact they call it soccer says it all - football is a minority sport to them.

I know Gordon Gekko ... what a greedy bastard :)

For those of you who imagine Kroenke to be some sort of saint for not drawing huge sums from our trading....
have a look at how his share value has climbed over time. Now ask yourself why would he take the risk?

make sure you select the 5 years stats.
all this and not spending on players. One smart cookie.

It is also sad to see people selling single shares recently.
Disenchanted with the club? Need the money to buy a season ticket?

Give me a break. That's just capitalism has nothing to do with nationality.

The way Usmanov made his money is far more aggressive and underhanded than any modern American tycoon.

Isn't the owner of Sunderland American?

I think Aston Villa's problems were down to appointing McLeish as manager. They never going to hold on to their top players if big clubs started throwing cash at them.

People criticise the likes of Sheikh Mansour and Roman Abramovich, but as Altbouli said, they put huge finances into their respective clubs, because they want to win things. American owners are greedy, and lack knowledge, the only worse option are asian owners, who tend to be incompetent or corrupt (as Pompey, Blackburn, Man City (originally), Birmingham etc. have found out)

  18. <doh>. You may want to look at the American banking industry from the creation of the federal reserve onwards. Corruption of the highest order. Even one of thier own called it the greatest fraud perpetrated against the people of the world in history.

The federal reserve was created in 1913. That's like using the East Indian trading Co as an example for British business practise.
