Montolivo has completed a medical to join Milan, which I think means we can safely say that Aquilani won't be signing for them this summer.

Given that we're on the verge of getting a new manager, is it likely Aquilani will be given the chance that he never really got at Anfield? He said he in preseason he'd be happy to play for us but Kenny just didn't really fancy him. I don't think he ever played too badly when he was fit under Rafa and he did score in a European Semi Final for us.

Would AVB/RM be likely to give Aquilani more of a chance?

  2. Aquilani does not want to play for Liverpool Football Club. His comments last summer came when he thought there wasn't a way out and he thought he was stuck at the club, he needed to try and attempt to get the fans back on his side. I am certain he will not be at Anfield next season, especially considering there is rumoured to be a buy clause in his loan agreement.

Yes but with Milan signing Montolivo that buy clause has been virtually rendered redundant.

Why does everyone think he would never want to play for us again? What's this actually based on? Considering Jay Spearing has been playing in the middle most of the season, he'd definitely have something to offer.

Nah, he didn't get a 'chance' here because he didn't want to play in England. That's why we shipped him off to Italy this year. AC just wanted a free player, and that's why they played him for 24 out of the necessary 25 games so that they didn't have to buy him. We got screwed over basically.

He won't be playing for us, he simply doesn't want to.

The fact that he keeps saying he hopes he's signed where he is currently.

Its based on when he said his girlfriend doesnt like Liverpool and he was looking to go back to Italy. Then When no one came in for him he changed his tune and as soon as Milan showed a bit of interest he was gone.

  7. If there is a activation clause then it is irrelevant whether Milan buy someone else. Him not wanting to play for the club could be something to do with him saying it whilst on loan in the 2010-11 season and the fact that he was actively seeking a move away from the club, whether it be loan or transfer, for two summers running!

I actually think he is a good player that would be a great benefit to the team, but if your heart isn't in it then it doesn't work. Look at Fowler when he joined Leeds, never the same player!

Aquilani would do almost anything to not return and not play for us again, there was an article on the Echo website earlier in which his agent said.

“Alberto wants to stay in Milan, but he has two years left on his Liverpool contract and we’ll need to see what they think about it.”

On a par with them. 25 appearances and 1 goal, he would fit into our midfield like a glove.

Fair enough but stats can be misleading. We saw how well Aqua played for LFC - I would be willing to give him another chance. It would save us having to buy another midfielder.
