Any takers for a player who scored once in half a season in the league below and was hauled off in virtually every game he played?
I'd have said yes if we'd stayed in the championship, but I don't think he's up to the premiership any more.
I know, I thought it was a cheek that they wanted anything when they are desperate to get rid of his wages. It would be like us wanting something for SWP.
Looked great in his first game against Burnley but faded after that. Hard working and you know he will also put in a shift but can't see him scoring many in the prem.
He can win a few headers but that's about it. In the final, Traore was breaking down the inside left with just Doyle in support, so what does he do? Get into the box? No he tries to chug round the outside and over lap but he's not quick enough. To top it off, Traore mis hit shot would had set him up if he got into the box, he tries hard but is nowhere near good enough, even as backup.
I'd keep him, I like his workrate. Decent squad player, and we can bring him on from the bench occasionally to chase tired defenders
My heart always says that we should keep every player who has worn the hoops. The practicalities of that would mean we'd have 10,000 players. Doyle is good, but no longer a Prem player.
If Joey is to be believed, 'players are not coming to QPR to die anymore', in that context Doyle died a couple of years ago...
We need to be realistic about who we can sign, particularly 'squad players', Doyle has already been involved with the current squad and so won't need settling in, he has a good attitude and work rate and would work as decent backup striker next season. We can't completely overhaul our squad again, we would just spend another season scrapping at the bottom of the table.
I believe at this stage in his career, Kevin Doyle is good Championship squad player, but not at Premier League level. Along with Brian Murphy, he is currently on the bench as the Republic of Ireland play Italy at Craven Cottage in a World Cup warm-up game. The Irish are certainly not holding back with strong challenges and several Italian players have been subbed with injuries, which I guess helps England (Roy Hodgson watching).
Any other time I'd agree with the consensus on here but the fact that Grifter - who was pinpoint accurate all along about us last season - has said he'd do a job for us, I'm starting to think he might be a shrewd signing. I've been keeping an eye on Grifter's contributions all year long and he's extremely perceptive.
Around 22,000 at Craven Cottage this evening - a warm evening apparently - Cox has just come on, so looks as if Doyle will only be a bench warmer. Lots of chances for Ireland now.
Not for premiership. Many better options out there. We've given him a platform, so hopefully he will find something elsewhere.
