http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-release-clause-800k-bid-Cardiff-striker.html .... QPR also showing interest but more likely to come back in for him in 2024 when he is at his peak
Fosse - not sure how the release clause works other than it means a player is allowed to talk to the club making the bid. Whether it's just down to the player to sort out personal terms for himself to force the selling club to accept that particular bid is another matter. Other clubs have shown interest in him and at only the reported £800K, I'm not surprised - for that sort of money, he'd be a bargain. If a bidding war was started, just how much say does the selling club have as to where he ends up? I'm not surprised Fraizer wants out at Cardiff given his expressed wishes toward staying in the Premier League, but that's not the only reason. Solskjaer's recent striker signings at Cardiff - Javi Guerra from Valladolid, Adam Le Fondre from Reading and ex Man U's Federico Macheda would make him uncomfortable - he doesn't like being on the bench. Don't know how he'd fit into your setup, but perhaps a decent paypacket may ease the pain he'd get from the bench sitting splinters. The guy is fearless and will go in where it hurts, but lacks the first touch and hold up capabilities of a front man to bring others into play. Would like him to stay for his enthusiasm on the pitch, but wouldn't be heartbroken if he moved on.
Considering we got Vardy for £1M from non-league, £800k for a Premier League striker is excellent value.
It is cheap but he's not a PL striker. Best season in English football was 15 championship goals for Hull. That's his only double figures season in England. Never wanted for effort, but that's not even close to enough in the PL. Good luck to him, but he's a very good Championship striker and nothing more. I honestly hope for your sake you have better or are intending to buy better front men. He will not score enough goals as your main striker. Good luck next season I like it when Championship clubs survive first season, just a pity we let the Championship down last year.
You also need to bear in mind this is the Daily Fail reporting it. They reported that w'ed agreed a £1.5M fee from Sunderland for Jordan Mutch. That was rubbished a few hours later by the Cardiff board saying they hadn't even had an offer from Sunderland nor anyone else for that matter. It doesn't mean these things aren't going to happen, but the speculative journos at the Fail are something of a joke.
Well it currently seems like we're in the process of bumping up our squad. Dyer out Albrighton in Whitbread out Upson in Logan out Hamer in Waghorn out Campbell in I don't expect Campbell to be starting every week to be honest. Especially if we land one of these big money strikers we've been threatening.
I´m back. 0.3 goals a game so far in his whole career Best season so far, 21 goals in 33 games for Royal Antwerp (2006/07). He got 13 in 48 last season. At 26 I guess he´ll be hitting his peak very soon so could be the right time to buy. Young, English & cheap 800k .... can´t really go wrong can it ?
He scored 9 in 39 last season. I agree he's cheap at £800k, it really doesn't buy you much. I just don't think you're getting that much either (if as Sparks says it isn'y another load of BS from the rags)
thanks for the input Sparks ... and good luck next season ... the acquisitions that you mention should (on paper at least) have you bang up there ...
@SkySportsPeteO: Cardiff striker Frazier Campbell set for talks with Leicester after triggering a release clause in his contract. #cardiffcity #lcfc
Not overly thrilled by the prospect of this, if I am honest. A mid 20's, English striker, lacking technical ability, but makes up for it with his work rate, and pace? Erm, hi NP, haaaaave you met Jamie Vardy? Signing Campbell means we have 4 strikers... Vardy, Nugent, Wood, and Campbell. Surely we wouldn't sign another? Would not be happy starting the season with those 4...
Would be very suprised if a Championship club didn't come in for Wood. Also we will still go out for another IMO. Which means we'd have Vardy, Nuge, Campbell and likely to be one of Ulloa, McCormack and Rhodes.
You think we'll sell Wood? Maybe, we are planning to play Campbell in one of the wide positions. And Nugent as the "just-behind" in a 4-2-3-1, like we tried at the end of last season.
I can't see that happening, Campbell has shown he can score in the prem, i think he'd only be played front and centre. If Pearson believes hes got the right stuff, then i'll totally support this.
I think we might loan out Wood but I think he's still got potential, and showed some form towards the end of last season. Too early to sell yet, although I suspect one of the reasons he joined us from WBA is because he was getting sick of being loaned here, there and everywhere. He's untested at PL level, but at least Campbell isn't. I would see him as a support striker though; I think we need a real predatory finisher (Wood can be one on his day), hence why even if we get Campbell we should go all out for Ulloa or McCormack. £800k is nothing, especially considering we haven't spent a penny yet.
