Last week, following the shocking home defeat against Bath City, I unfortunately used this forum to vent my frustration and annoyance and subjected you all to my rantings and complaints about the teams performance. A few people mentioned the fact that we've consistently been in the top 2 or 3 all season, and reminded me that our main priority this season has to be returning to league football at the first attempt, and fortunately, the disappointment against Bath didn't impact upon this. Having given myself a reality check since then, I'm inclined to see the merit in these comments and find myself agreeing that maybe, rather than being the end of the World, it could even turn out to be a blessing in disguise, removing the risk of long term injuries, fixture congestion etc, etc. Added to this the fact that we obviously showed courage, determination and passion last night in defeating Gateshead after falling behind in the match, qualities I felt were absent in abundance against Bath, I find myself writing the Bath performance off as 'a blip' and nothing to get unduly worked up about (which I did at the time). In short,I am now fully recommitted to seeing the team promoted out of this league asap and regret posting my negative comments and inflicting them on you all. I feel DC is doing a good job with the quality of players he has at his disposal and can only hope and prey that we can maintain our current level of league form throughout the rest of the season and that Barnet falter and Macclesfield dont suddenly hit a strong vein of good form.

The next few weeks are going to shuffle the pack a bit and hopefully we'll be a bit closer to Barnet by then. The game with Macclesfield is looking like a six pointer! We won't win all our games but I think we'll be fine if we carry on and improve just a bit.
Thats exactly what a football forum is for my friend. Forums aint just for the good times when we win and play well. Its there for when we lose and play crap as well. All views welcomed here After the Bath game, 2 things were going to happen last night vs Gateshead. 1) The players were going to start the game all guns blazing to show put right the wrongs they made last week against Bath. Putting on a performance to show the Bath performace was a shocking 1 off experience only. 2) The players would be feeling nervous and confidence be low meaning putting a similar performance in to what they did vs Bath. They know they will get a bad time from fans if they dont perform. A backlash from the fans on live TV would worry them and will effect the result/performance. Number 2 was what I was massively worried about. The after effects of the Bath game could put a massive dent in to our promotion hopes. Unfortunately I was right to feel very worried as the 1st half performance was a total shambles. However this is where DC deserves massive credit. He got the players to get their acts together and made changes at the right time and it all paid off. The 2nd half performance was what we should be doing in all home games. Hopefully the team build on this and use this as a platform to go on a long winning run.
