It goes to show what Tommy gave up to take on the opportunity at Leeds. Had he still been at Apoel Nicosia he would have been playing Real Madrid at the Bernabeu Stadium in front of 71000 fans in the champions league. To give that up he must see that Radz and Victor are going to enable him to take Leeds back to those sort of nights. That must be the overall ambition at Leeds otherwise why would you make the move, ok money will come into it but, really, after a succesful professional playing career he can't be without a few dollars!
And nobody would notice who they were playing as they yave no profile and no real potential to get one. If TC is as good as some suggest he is here to do a good job and put himself in the shop window... Nothing more, nothing less.
He wasn't sacked !!, just no contract renewal, after winning the league the club and TC had negotiations which ultimately saw him leave the club !!, and thank goodness he did !!!!
You thnk my assessment is wrong and TC has a lifelong love of LUFC? It is not bad news, he only gets a bigger job if he does well for us.
If TC is so good he won't need to put himself in a shop window, as he already has a job that can become one of the top jobs in football management again
If one of the big prem teams or the greek national team come calling he could go. Instant prestige and cash have a lot of influence.
Hi Milky - He and Apoel failed to agree terms and moved on the same day, 25th May, that Monk resigned - probably a coincidence
As 2020 says if..long pause and hope ... .if he does the job for us we will be in the premiership. In that scenario he may decide to move on but why? No he doesn't have a life long love, passion, stupidy for LUFC but who in the modern commercial form of football has for any club they work, play for, are contracted to. All the club management can do is endeavour to meet his ambition, if he turns out to be good, and similarly those ambitions of the players, otherwise they will all move on, if they are able. There appears to be a window of opportunity for our team to move forward, stuff it up and yes we will be back to Hockadidledrago but I'm optimistic we won't
The thing that Bates and his successors never understood (or failed to develop, anyway) was the importance of momentum If you've got it, if you are moving upwards, people want to stick around and be part of it There's always a risk in moving somewhere that's an unknown quantity, a rational individual will leave a club that's going nowhere but think very hard if the club they are in, and understand, is moving to the same place quickly I think Rad is going to take this club back to the top. I agree TC has no lifelong affiliation, who does in football, but he will be able to see that
just a chat amongst mates no harm done - it would be a sad world if we all thought the same we could all be like............... ???
Nice try Eric! Apoel's form drifted at the end of that season the choice not to renew was there's. Opting not to renew is just a sacking without the compensation. http://cyprus-mail.com/2017/05/25/apoel-boss-christiansen-way/ As for coincidence. I love a good conspiracy theory but the idea that you leave your club because another manager in another league has resigned... so you can put yourself on the shortlist for when their first choices, Wagner, Stam etc turn them down... is just a little too much of a stretch. None of which alters the fact that he's done a cracking job so far since he came.
Not moaning stating realities. Unlike some I am not posting as though we are nailed on to be in the champions league in two years time. It is very early days. So far so good but very early days! #toomanyfalsedawns
