Anybody hear what was said? AP made it clear Hobbs and danns are the two top targets and both very important in terms of where it leaves us regarding other targets. still some way off with Leicester regarding Hobbs. Hopeful on danns but u get the impression there's a lot of interest. Interesting comments regarding Portsmouth and them happy to spend a shed load on wages- meant we missed out on Norris. Cant recall what else was said but he sounded a tad frustrated I thought
On a bright note he also said thats theres loadsa good keepers available and were not to worry in that department basically.
Yeah, he seemed to indicate he'd found a really exciting young keeper actually and if villa wanted money for guzan they'd just walk away.
I think he actually said that QPR seem very interested but that no concrete bid has been forthcoming. Something about QPR being a 'boutique' club or something.
I guess AP is coming to terms with the fact that the pot is not bottomless. But still, hope we get lucky with Hobbs and Danns. And a keeper too. And a target man.
Fook knows. Ask Adam. I think he was trying to suggest that dealing with the current set up there may not be completely straightforward.
It means it's an exclusive club for only the select few to be able to be members (in this case afford to be able to support). It's caught my attention that AP has used that phrase, because it's a Flavio Briatore coined phrase which suggests he's taking his shares back off Ecclestone and is involved in the transfer dealing. On past form that means over Warnock's head and QPR might be about to implode with all the media attention the PL brings being focussed on it.
He said the championship will have alot of big spending clubs next season. so there is competition for all players. Most clubs are trying to spend within their means with the exception of Portsmouth who are blowing other clubs out of the water with ridiculous wages. he said "Its hard to believe they've just come out of administration" Said QPR move may suit Jimmy as he lives 20 minutes from their training ground. Mentioned the wages of Bullard , Oli , Ghilas & McShane as a massive commitment and said they will all become part of the squad if they can't be moved on. Burnsey mentioned that Celtic might be interested in McShane. I can't remember if AP confirmed this, he then said that his premier league contract for the next 2 years would probably scare them away. I think all the other things he mentioned have already been covered earlier in this thread.
Cheers D, that all sounds about right. I think he just said he'd heard the mcshane to Celtic rumours but nothing more than that. You get the impression of the five remaining high earners, he's least bothered about shifting on mcshane as he knows he's an excellent pro who just wants to play every week.
Regarding Ghilas AP's told him to come back lean & mean with the bit between his teeth. To either get back in the squad or to put himself in the shop window. Also oli has an injury which may stop him getting any enquiries for the next month.
