Status QuoD O W N DOWN when DEREK joined us I thought, YEP a good mid table finish some new faces the basis of a team to challenge a weaker NPC in 2012/13 and at least the top 6. We are seriously under the cosh now..we need ( BESIDES 47 POINTS) firstly to get our disgusting discipline record sorted secondly to hope ( HOPE IS OUR KEY WORD NOW)the teams around us do worse than us thirdly STOP COVENTRY AND FLOREST TAKING MORE THAN A POINT FROM US ! lastly get 8 points from our next 4 games Games of great note 7th April..Florest v BCFC HOPE FOR A POINT 9th April..BCFC v Coventry HOPE FOR 3 POINT BCFC 10th April..Pomps v MillwallHOPE FOR 3 POINT Pomps 14th April...Donny v PompsHOPE FOR 3 POINT Donny Saving graces could be Millwall play Hull and Leics at Home Cardiff away! and Pomps away to Soton. working out the points???? the 5 teams in the mix (playing each other) IF ALL Home wins Coventry lose out, but all draws Mill...40 -41 Flor..40- 41 BCFC..41 -38 Cov..40- 36 Pomps..41- 35 Donny.. 40-33 After 43 games any team with 46 points should be safe!
Things just haven't worked out for us consistently enough John and I really question our ability to stay out of the bottom 3 now as other teams fight for their lives. Do we have the heart/spirit ?? We've had times of bad luck (Middlesbrough and Cardiff at home for starters) and we have had a bad injury list and poor disciplinary record under Del but these are not good enough excuses. For me the most telling factors are the lack of wins we've had, and our dreadful goal difference. Are we capable of 4 wins from the 7 games remaining ? I really don't think so, but please prove me wrong City
I said before that we need to win the 3 home games of Derby, Coventry and Barnsley to stay up and get a draw somewhere as think if we can beat Coventry that we will only need to get 10 points which is do-able with our current squad as long as we starting believing. Derby is the crucial game that need winning to kick start our run
Derby has done us 2 favours since I pointed out their involvement with the lower teams, lets hope they sacrifice themselves for our cause!!! The next teams we need to do their stuff is Hull Burnley and Leicester
I think we are all underestimating what Portsmouth will do. They have a good home record and with 4 games at Fratton Park, I feel they will get 12 points from them, which could land us in the very brown stuff unless we can match them!
The sad fact is this - but for Pompeys points deduction we would be bottom 3 and deservedly so. We have only won 9 games all season so to win 3/4 in the run in is asking a lot. A defeat Saturday and I'll be planning my trips to Swindon and Yeovil next season. I'll keep believing but for how long can the glass stay a twentieth full?
Until the it is confirmed Matt. Imagin a win on Saturday and Doncaster Portsmouth Coventry lose, now imagin it with that and Florist Millwall and Barnsley lose as well? Portsmouth and Coventry are on a bit of a run, but a defeat can destroy that confidence and the wheels could fall off, we are all assuming that Portsmouth will win all their home games but football is a funny old game. Said it before match their results we are the one that they are trying to catch. Plus Millwall and Florist are only 2 wins away! We go on about the impossible of winning 3/4 games but we have already been on a run like that when Del joined, it has been done and it can be done again
I reckon even 45 points could be enough, maybe 46.... Our disciplinary record is not disgusting in the sense that we are a dirty side, quite the opposite in fact - our players are too "nice" and they only get sent off when they make naive and rash tackles... Stop trying to second guess everything John, you will go insane(r) - life just isn't like that... p.s. who the .... are "Pomps"...? Its either Portsmouth or Pompey but Pomps...??!!!
Team A has to win 3 games draw 1, Team B has to lose all their games but can afford to win 2, Team C HAVE to lose all games but can win one.. Doesn't mean anything, all we have to do is win our own games..
I'm probably about as pessimistic as it comes as far as pompey fans are concerned but i am realistically expecting at least 12 points from our remaining games. I think that will be enough to claw your boys in. Some how the youngsters we have borrowed are managing to put some nice performances together at home and we have four home games left that have to go down as winnable, Add to that the fact that we still need to play donny away and also forest on the last day who should have nothing left to play for by then and i can really see us pulling out of this one. all thats without jamo trying to help us out by finding his own net!! could get very interesting down the bottom this afternoon if we manage to beat burnley, the pressure is very much on!!
I still think Millwall have a hard run in, so by the end of Today we could be one point behind them. Plus they have to play Pompy and Coventry away. If we say Portsmouth win all their home games plus Coventry we could end up above them, if we play like our lives depended on it!
[ [/QUOTE] ???? have you been asleep and just been kissed by a toad? "win our own games" ...Why do eskimo's live in fridges??
well Burnley did BUT wow what a let down from Hull........... 7 points from the next 12 for us ! what about the others! Millwall.....H to Leics ...A to COVENTRY...H to Hull ...A to PORTSMOUTH Coventry....H to Peterbro...... A to BCFC..A to Burnley .....H to MILLWALL Portsmouth...A to Soton...H to MILLWALL..A to DONCASTER...H to CPalace Doncaster...A to Leicester...H to Burnley .....H to PORTSMOUTH..A to Midds BCFC...A to Florest...H to ..COVENTRY...A to Birmingham H to W H U.... THE HARDEST 4 FIXTURES OF THEM ALL We desperately need Leics and Burnley to do us at least 1 favour and Hull to make amends....
Hmmmm, now let me see, did I sit in a dark room for weeks conjuring A+B- D beating X then divide by my shoe size, multiple by my hat and glove size and go totally insane or did I just go with my gut...? Funny old thing that how life doesn't work out the way it is statistically supposed to but there again, you know the old saying... "there are lies, damn lies and statistics"
Prem JGF will never be happy, he has been trying for ages to put negative statistics up. Probably sat at home now studying graphs. And permutation's of how we can still fail.
Well jgf2 said 7 points would be needed from 4 games and Delboy went and achieved 8 points, when you compare that with Millens first 10 games he only managed 6 points,we know that's the reason he was sacked,I'll say it again, nice guy, crap manager...Up the City.
