Btw, to the SNP- & Wee Nick-bashers, you know nothing about the SNP. You may have heard of the SRA - the only terrorist organisation in the world who achieved their objective without killing or injuring anyone. Or you may think you know something about the SNP & its history. One thing might startle you - it was viewed for many, many years in Scotland to be a tory organisation. Decades, actually. But the country came together as one, realising that we Scots had a common goal - socialism with a small 's'. It's difficult to explain unless you've been a part of it. Basically looking after each other. It's something you english just don't have, nor would you recognise it these days. Can you imagine the exodus of Scots to England for a better standard of living

Ask your Government why not. My opinion is that the english are heavily misinformed wrt Scottish politics. You've even mentioned some of it further on. I'll return your question with my question - if Scotland is so costly & repulsive to you (the common 'you'), why do you insist on fighting Scotland's efforts to determine it's own future? At considerable cost & dubious legality too! Also ask yourself also why so many english have moved to Scotland since the SNP's rise & the benefits they cannot enjoy in england.

Already proved globally that it's a load of nonsense. Salmond was perfectly clear to Westminster that his favoured way forward was to use the £, as we felt a social responsibility to take on our share of the national debt. Westminster refused. Read that fact again! (Can you imagine Boris the Bastard Butcher of Britain being similarly generous? Thought not). It seems that you can share any currency (with rules & regs, obviously). Some countries already do. Of course, the other option is to set up our own, which would save us picking up a chunk of your national debt. Yep, that's how much Scotland means to Westminster - they can make more out of us when they are in control.

Independence does not necessarily mean membership of the EU, so I don't get what you're rambling on about here. Who in their right mind would agree to this? As it is, you should look at the sea borders for Scotland. The english changed it pre-Indyre2. Normal people might expect the sea border to follow the latitude line i.e. straight out from the border. That would be logical. But have a look at it now - it stretches NNE as I recall, claiming Scottish waters as english. No other word for it but piracy.

We don't fight the Scots right to independence we crave it its the scottish people who voted against independence

Salmond was taking out of his arse, no way would the scots would accept the euro,and the purpose of independence is not to be ruled by an unelected group of foreigners which Europe is and what McCrannkie wants,

by your pulling out of GB you forgo it ,and your total income from taxes falls woefully short of what you pay out in reality .hence you as an independent country would have to increase your taxes dramatically

healthcare free in Scotland yes but subsidised by the English you as an Independent nation could not afford it look up NHS Scotland cost , against total income for Scotland collected by taxes, and be prepared to be shocked.

Independence does not have to include joining the EU however this is what the SNP want, and you could not stand alone without it

I totally agree that the Tories are corrupt but so are most Politicians. It goes with the territory. As Billy Connolly said, "the desire to be a politician should preclude you from ever being one."
I know you said that leaving the Union doesn't mean you'll join the EU but, as has been pointed out, that is what the SNP want. If you think that Westminster is corrupt then good luck with Brussels, it's a cess pool.

The SNP get many more seats in Parliament than their share of the vote would warrant so they do have a huge say in how the Union is managed. On top of that they are kings of their own castle in Scotland.

My question to you is what do you hope to gain from leaving the Union?
I don't think you'll be any richer if at all.
You'll be an extremely small fish in an enormous pond if you join the EU.
You can hate the English now so that won't change.

This thread does remind me of watching the results of the 2019 election come in.
I remember actually wondering how, not only the SNP, but also the NI parties got so many seat for so few votes.
I've just rechecked and there are over 4m registered voters in Scotland.
There was a 68% turnout.
Just over 1.2m voted SNP for which thry got 48 seats.
The three main parties got more votes when combined and got 11 seats.
I totally understand that it is a flaw of the first past the post system but the Lib Dems got three times as many votes and got just 11 seats.
When you consider that there are also Scottish Elections for the Scottish Parliament it's very strange to hear how downtrodden the Scots are.
Add to that the 2014 "once in a lifetime" referendum and, just as importantly, more voters in Scotland didn't vote for Wee Jimmy Krankie than did and it's a slippery slope.
