Living up here in exile I dont get to as many games as I have in the past.So i was unable to get to the game

While i wasn`t entirely surprised with the result, one thing has intrigued me.

What I`m interested to hear from those of you that did go to the game, is, was there any player who upped their game
knowing full well that they may be consigned to the history books when the new manager is appointed if thet don`t start performing.

I did make it to the game but wish I hadn't. With JET on the bench, the only player capable of unlocking the defence was Martin. Sheff Wed realised this & he was well shackled throughout the game.
The only player to come out with any credit was Hyam.
Carson, Wellens, Murphy & Edwards were awful but the worst thing was the players didn't communicate with each other. Edwards is supposed to be captain, Chambers used to be captain of Notts Forest but neither was vocal. The ball was like a hot potato, no one wanted to put their foot on it.
The new manager has his work cut out for him

Dire performance from Ipswich, the scoreline was the correct one. Carson and Murphy were awful. Our best player was Hyam, but this was not saying a lot, as he did not unduly worry any of the Wednesday players. These are dark days indeed when you consider we were well beaten by the team next to us in the league, especially as they had more pace than us, and were physically stronger than us. In Bothroyd and Barklay they had two players who played at a level well above this league, as well as his goals, Barklay had a stunning game, and we could never come to terms with him.

    nope, none, zero,
No plus points whatsoever. Hyam offically got named man of the match but it cant have been by much. I actually thought Moshni done more, had more effort, energy and commitment in the 3 minutes he was on the pitch then the rest of the team put together in the other 90 minutes. Truly woeful display.

Going back to the thread with PTC, KoPR and ourselves I think the point I was trying to get across was that although we have seen all these players display quality they are yet to show it consistently and currently are not even putting in the effort. I dont think it has much to do with Hutchings to be fair. Martin was sent on loan to Charlton during his early days due to his lack of effort and workrate. He came back, done ok but seems very fair weather to me. We appear to have too many players who are comfortable about just turning up. Hutchings press conference was very telling, as was Wellens statement. Its something that appears to be telling in the players we have. Maybe the likes of Martin & JET were too comfortable playing for premier league reserve teams. Maybe its the lack of squad depth that means we have very few other options and so they feel safe or maybe we dont judge on character and personality and just on what they can do on a good day. It really is scary stuff though.

<ok> you've got to be worried if the loanees are the only ones putting in the effort! did any of your players make tits of themselves on twitter after the game again? they were abusing your fans in midweek. you have a lot of big egos in your dressing room, but they don't seem to have the ability or even the desire to prove they are worthy of them.

Havent heard of any twitter rows. Not on it personally so would only hear if it came up on here. I think they have the ability but ability without commitment, workrate, professionalism, enthusiasm and determination is pointless. We have too many players happy to pick up the wages and have that lifestyle - they think they have made it already and dont need to prove anything to anyone.

No effort. 55 seconds in - goal. After the second goal, someone shouted at the team to remind them we were 2-0 down, as they were just standing around scratching their arses and they attacked for around 30 seconds, then slumped back into the doldrums.

I honestly think the players are seeing this as a chance to take it easy. They know we're in the **** and they can sit back and blame everyone else - no pressure. If we keep losing, it's not their fault. We don't just need a new manager - we need an arse-kicking MACHINE!

The club is rotten to the core we all know that and Shane Supple admitted as much when he retired a few seasons ago! Whoever comes in had got one hell of a job to do and I think that we will be seeing league 1 football at Portman Road next season. We can't kid ourselves any longer, we aren't as good as we think we are and it will take a relegation for us to clear the decks and get back to the founding principles of this great football club. It will give us a chance to regroup and to rally around a manager, my guess would be Matty Holland in League 1. Young hungry players who want to play and die for Ipswich brought on by a young manager who loves our club. A great combination! We must learn the lessons of years of mediocrity that so called big names have landed us with and if relegation means that we get our old club back then I would be a happy Townie!

on a side note but slightly related, can i just say what a good player ross barkley is going to be. his 2nd goal was a real beaut. the loan system gets a bad press if used incorrectly or overused but he's the sort of loanee who makes a difference to a club. someone young, hungry, eager to impress. he's precisely what the loan system is good for <ok>

I agree Supers he is going to be a great player with a great career ahead of him. David Moyes is something of a hero of mine going back to his Cambridge Utd days! Moyes is doing a superb job at Everton and Barclay is yet another off the Moyes conveyor belt of fantastic young players.

He was absolutely fantastic, I'm glad to see we have some great players getting ready to take over from the current England squad.

where did he play? did he slot in behind the strikers or out wide or deeper in midfield? i personally think he'll end up playing more of a gascoigne role - running deep from midfield with pace and power and close control (i'm not comparing him to gazza by the way!)
