Great man, love to have him as our Chairman after what we've been through. *R's Chairman insists the QPR fans are the best in the business. *This is our year, things seem to be going for us *Tony's first home win *Mike (Rigg) such a critical appointment. Very enthustiastic man apparantly. *Nothing's gonna stop me, we'll leave no stone unturned. *Since the phone rang from Bernie (Ecclestone)... it's the best thing that has happened in my life. *I'll work my damndest for these fans, and boy do they deserve it. *I hope that during the next five-six years we're going to give them something to really shout about. *Long road but there is light in the end of the tunnel. Not a man to make lots of empty promises. The journey and business plan is set regardless of what happens. *And hopefully next week we have some REALLY good news to announce on the training ground. *But the future MUST start with us putting the right infrastructure in place, and that I can assure the fans we will do. There is also a super interview with Adel after the Stoke game, try to check them out if you can.
Don't tell me about the sodding training ground again Tony. Tell me about an improved youth academy, tell me about a new ground on the horizon or at least about improving the cess pits that are the Ellerslie road toilets, tell me about a the plan for bouncing back should we get relegated but for God's sake please do not tell me yet again about the luxury spa facilities we need to install so that we can please the pampered and overpaid PL professionals. Yes I know it needs to happen for any number of reasons but as an item to excite the fans its about as much good as telling us the players will all have their own personal boot boy next season.
Aaaaagh, what's important with new training facilities is attracting better players. With proper facilities our "sway power" will be stronger, if this means pampering our already pampered pros then so be it.
You're in bad humour ain't ye? You'd think with all those gamey birds yiz have over there you'd be having a great aul time. Ach there's just no pleasing some people.
It's all the waiting for sunday Swords.......doing my head in ! Which pub is everyone heading to in Manchester....?
*R's Chairman insists the QPR fans are the best in the business. If he really thought that, he would fly us all to away games on his jets. Tight sod.
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes will not question his takeover of the club, even if they are relegated from the Barclays Premier League at the weekend. Mark Hughes' side travel to title-chasing Manchester City knowing a point will be enough to effectively guarantee top-flight survival, while defeat would leave them sweating on results elsewhere. Malaysian business tycoon Fernandes completed his takeover of the club last summer and, despite a turbulent season, he believes he made the right choice. "We still have a bit of work to do to stay up; whether we stay up or not I'm convinced I made the right decision coming to this club," he told QPR Player. "The journey is set, we are on this road, nothing is going to stop me. I'm loving it and hopefully the fans are happy with what we're doing." Fernandes, who also owns the Caterham Formula One team, has backed both Neil Warnock and Hughes in the transfer market as well as appointing key backroom staff. The most recent off-field acquisition was new technical director Mike Rigg, who worked alongside Hughes at Manchester City and Blackburn, and Fernandes believes he could prove invaluable. "I think he is a critical appointment," Fernandes added. "All through the game (a 1-0 win over Stoke) he had so much to talk to me about. That gives me a lot of encouragement that we are making the right moves for the future." The victory over Stoke was the first Fernandes has witnessed live at Loftus Road since he took charge, but it is the club's poor away record that has left them in trouble. Only one point has been picked up on the road since Hughes was appointed in January, but Fernandes believes the final-day drama will be indicative of Rangers' whole season. He said: "It has been our season all year, lots of ups and downs, but there is something that just keeps going for us. "When everything looks bleak suddenly that spark comes; 2-0 down at Liverpool, we come back and win 3-2. We keep shooting ourselves in the foot though, but we keep doing it." Despite investing far more than fellow promoted sides Norwich and Swansea, QPR have found it more difficult to pick up results and Hughes has admitted he will be looking to clear out any perceived deadwood ahead over the summer, regardless of their fate. "Every club will look at their current staff and what they need to build and get stronger," Hughes told the Fulham Chronicle. "And that won't change no matter what club I'm at. We're looking to make it stronger and that means a number of players will go as a result." Manchester City are undefeated at home in the league this season and QPR have only three away wins, but forward Jamie Mackie feels they can defy the odds at the Etihad Stadium as Roberto Mancini's side look to secure the title. "They've not been in that position for a long, long time," he said. "Not many of their players would have won the Premier League before. Pressure does really strange things to people. "We've been really poor on the road this season, but it's got to change at some point. "Everybody is expecting a big day for Man City, but we're scrapping for our lives and a point would mean the world to us." http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/12/05/10/SOCCER_QPR_Nightlead.html&TEAMHD=soccer&BID=165
Really great interview - and reinforces what I said about the players and staff were like at the Sponsors Evening. Whatever happens, the club is in great hands and has a bright future.
Yeah, Essex has got back in the saddle again and is as happy as Larry. These Essex lads are so used to gettin' easy crumpet, when they go without for a couple of days they get the right hump.
All so positive given our precarious position atm. If this continues I can see us flying off the blocks come August whatever league we end up in.
