Could see he had the class. BUT, was never settled and Didn,t seem to handle the lack of time on the ball he got. Became a star after he left us. Typical

My main memory of him is that he kept playing the ball into space that he felt that other members of the team should be attacking - but they never were.

A few years on he was South American player of the year, by playing the ball into spaces that team mates WERE attacking.

Did he improve, or did he just have better team mates?

Argies were all the rage then, and the money available in England would have lured most over,
The most infamous had to be Alberto Tarantini at Birmingham, who did a Cantona (should be a Tarantini as he did it first) by going into the crowd for a punch up with a fan.

There was an article a few years ago http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/local-news/revealed-birmingham-city-flop-alberto-394705about his HUGE contract - £363 per week plus car and win bonuses. They should show that to some of the modern prima donnas.

Opening next weekend Comm. I will for sure take a raft of pictures and open an off topic thread so everyone can see what it looks like. As long as all the work it's taking to get it open doesn't kill me, lol.

I know for a fact he was frozen out by our so called legends of the time, well at least the two ringleaders who knew the were not fit to tie his boots, I met him once and he was a true gent, no swagger which is more than I can say of some.
