My main memory of him is that he kept playing the ball into space that he felt that other members of the team should be attacking - but they never were. A few years on he was South American player of the year, by playing the ball into spaces that team mates WERE attacking. Did he improve, or did he just have better team mates?

I know for a fact he was frozen out by our so called legends of the time, well at least the two ringleaders who knew the were not fit to tie his boots, I met him once and he was a true gent, no swagger which is more than I can say of some.
