I was dreaming about this last night -

    ----------Cisse-----------

    Johnson---C.Y.Lee----HBA

    -----Tiote-----Cabaye---

    Santon--Colo---Douglas---Debuchy

    ------------Krul-----------

Johnson and Santon's pace on that left hand side, one left footed, one right footed, both with skill. Johnson crossing, or passing to Santon who can cut in on his right and either shoot or pick out a player, like he did to set up Cisse against Chelsea for his first goal.

On the right, Ben Arfa cutting in on his left, or Debuchy overlapping then crossing.

Chung Yong Lee in a bit of a free role, making threatening runs down the center, linking up with Cisse, Tiote and Cabaye futher back, but Cabaye will obviously be a bit further forward, picking out players.

What do you reckon? Looks sexual to me.

Now that would be a frightening line up indeed.

    Saylor over Douglas.

As for Johnson, I'd be a bit worried that he would be a return to players thinking they've taken a step down by coming to the Toon. He has tons of ability but I'd be concerned about the attitude.

Have you seen Douglas play? Have you listened to the interviews Pardew has made?

Douglas isn't going to walk into this team by any stretch of the imagination, Saylor is fantastic, but if you've seen Douglas play, he's solid, beast in the air, and is as precise as Coloccini when it comes to stand tackling... and remember he's 6ft 4 and it's hard to be that precise when you're that big because you've got big legs and body weight to carry.

Pardew stated he wanted a more dominant header of the ball, and if we get Douglas, that's exactly what we'll have.

All the signs point to Douglas getting in this team over Saylor, as long as he can re-produce here what he's done in the Dutch league.

Plus he's a great target man in set plays, something we need to improve on.

If the first XI of NUFC looks like that on the 1st day of the season, I'll personally buy everyone here a Bentley. For the original poster, I will buy a Bentley, superyacht and..yeah, why not...Newcastle United FC.

Think Gateshead have a board if you want to stay local.

They'll think you're a multi Billionaire Rep Uncle that's come to save them.

    Only once and some highlights.

Saylor is a first rate, proven Premiere League defender. He scores about 5 a season when fit. Douglas is an exciting prospect. Maybe he'll turn out to be better than Saylor, but I doubt it would be in his first season.

Why Lee though? He's been out for a full season with a broken leg ffs. We're not in the days where we have to buy damaged goods a la HBA and Ba and he'd still cost a lot of money from Bolton regardless of the fact he only has a year on his contract...

Johnson is lazy as **** and we'd have to pay him mega wages for him to come here and act jack the lad.

I dont think Johnson would be a bad shout, another local lad who understands the passion and desire up there, he's quick, skillful and can beat his man but he is very lazy and i wouldn't want him in the team over Gutierrez for defensive work.
We only need one winger/AM player atm and Johnson would be a luxury/expensive squad player, personally I'd be more inclined to go for C.Y.Lee A) for price/wages B) work rate

Saylor still first choice for me. Douglas I'm unsure on his quality based on what I've seen. Seems pretty rash but I'm sure they'll have done their homework as usual. To be honest though Saylor has had unrelated freak injuries and just needs a bit of luck. He looked a top clas international standard centre back early in the season. There are others I'd prefer to Douglas but if he is the target then I expect him to be coming in to compete with Saylor rather than replace him. Based on what I've seen it would be for him to replace Saylor not the other way on. Saylor is more proven if that is even correct english!

How many of these ****ty hypothetical formations do you want to do?
We won't sign many, if any of those four new players.
Taylor will probably play ahead of Douglas since he's such a loose cannon and will be suspended half the time.
Johnson will never come to us from Man City.
Lee looked decent in a VERY POOR Bolton team, we're better than that.
Debuchy less likely to leave now they're asking for €8million and they've sold Hazard so less likely to need to sell anyone for money.

Johnson is a no go- wages will be double what we offer our top earners and he's English, so his transfer fee will be stupidly over valued. Someone French instead for a change please
