Anyone know whats going on with Sakho thought he played quite well most of the season when he has been called on thought he did ok against Boro in the cup. Then was dropped from the squad against Everton then got caught leaving early but has apologised but he has been left out of the squad for tomorrow as well now(so has Sturridge but thats due to not being fully fit).

Depressed because he was not in the derby squad.

Apparently he was dropped from the squad and that was the reason for him storming out.

Firstly - he shouldn't be storming off regardless of how frustrated he may be.

Secondly - I think he's been unfairly targeted by fans and media and also by Rodgers. Rodgers clearly has his favourites and it's well known Sakho wasn't his first choice defender. Sakho is our best centre back - I know a lot won't agree with me but Lovren and Skrtel are far too inconsistent and prone to simple defensive errors. Sakho's biggest weakness is that he LOOKS funny. Sakho is the first one who is dropped in the defence and it's unfair.

Rodgers likes to talk about how players get a fair chance but truth is he has his favourites - Johnson, Skrtel, Gerrard and now I think Lovren and Lallana will be added to that list.

Sakho has been poor by his standards this season but the other two have been worse.

Not surprised Sakho has been left out of the CL squad against Basel because he needs to be punished and sends the right message.

anyone fear we may have a bit of rafa stubbornness back?

what i mean is, if brendan has his favourites, is he going to be too stubborn to play his best players, or what most would say we should play any way, as he doesn't rate them as much as his so called favs?

johnson one always baffles me, if he comes straight back in the team when fit, then it will start to look that way.

i can see the potential with sakho and lovren(although it obviously needs time), its migs that i am worried by, he seems to have become complacent as he knows pretty much like johnson did, that his position was/is never under threat.

    I think it's a bit of a myth.

Allen was jokingly his love child but certainly doesn't get a guaranteed start, Lucas was 'the future of this club' when he first took over... Not anymore.

Skrtel couldn't get a look in before last season!

He gives people their chance and he feels at the moment the pairing is Skrtel and Lovren... Let them try and get an understanding. Maybe Sakho's attitude has been poor in training and that's why he got dropped for the derby and then by storming off has ****ed his chance for Basel.

I happen to agree that Skrtel and Lovren ARE our best CB pairing. Sakho is first back up though. Toure doesn't belong in the squad anymore. Bar a few good opening games for us, he has been poor.

I don't believe any of this "favouritism" business, I'm afraid.
None of us is in a position to pass judgement on this, but it doesn't make any sense at all. BR wants, and needs, success- it's as important to him as it is to any of us, if not more so.
Why would he pick a player who's under-performing if there are better available? Or drop one of his best performers out of some personal but impractical prejudice?
There have to be valid, footballing reasons behind his choices, but we're not a party to them.
If we don't agree with some of them then that just comes down to us thinking we can do his job better than he.

So basically if we have any injuries in defence tomorrow we have the prospect of Toure coming on least its not Real Madrid the thought of Toure against Bale, Rodriguez and Ronaldo is very scary.

Sakho HAS made mistakes in addition to looking ungainly on the ball. His pass is ok in terms of accuracy, but it is overthought as he takes time to sort his feet. I like his passion and power though.

Sakho is also struggling to find a partner in Skrtel or Lovren. He tends to clash heads with the latter and fluttering hearts with the former. Plus, I think that Lovren and skrtel get on a common brotherly Eastern European wavelength there.

Thing is with a center back, they need to be given confidence in their belief, same with strikers. If a manager plays you one game and you play well and drop you for the next it knocks your confidence and for a center back if they have low morale it causes problems for the defence as a whole.

For me, it was bad he left early but it was clearly frustration in the fact he wants to play for us and shouldn't that be more important?

We can only play two at a time- in the current favoured system at least, so somebody's going to be left out.
In the end it comes down to our personal opinion of who is best. Rodgers is not doing anything intrinsically wrong, he has to pair two, it's simply that whichever two he picks some of us are going to disagree with his choice.
As for players having a strop when they're dropped, well- they're paid handsomely to be a part of, and work for, the team. If that means they have to sit it out, then they're just going to have to put up with it, aren't they?.
We've had a threadbare squad for a few years now, recently we've improved the depth, if not the starting 11 (so far). We now have more than one more or less equal player for a number of positions. Fans will have their favourites, but they can't all play at once.

Or he's got a thigh injury and will be out for up to three weeks.....

As for strops, it's the modern footballer with the mental age of a toddler who thinks the millions paid for their bodies actually means something......they're sports cars....a new one made every year and its rusts just like a bog standard car if left sitting doing nothing.....It's good a manager reminds them of it every now and then.

The injury and the strop timing seem like to much of a coincidence.

Maybe- but I can't see Rodgers leaving him out for three weeks over him being petulant. Maybe make him miss the next game- but missing three is kinda like giving spite to the nose when you have two birds in the bush... or something like that.
