Or maybe someone needs a lift? Obviously no advertising other than details of coaches run by Southampton FC. Maybe someone has a spare seat in a car and can offer a lift and/or to share costs perhaps Please remember no personal details should be made public, post those by PM only
Last time I went there I got a bloody parking ticket.......didnt have to pay it though as he/she got the reg wrong
Was a jobs worth Warden............there was a parking spot for about eight left. I got there at 14.40 the ground was 15 minutes walk away. The sign said free parking after 3 pm. The locals said No one would bother us for the sake of 20 minutes when we asked as there was a minimum charge prior to 3 pm, also I was in a disabled bay anyway because my uncle had a badge as he was disabled. unfortunately it seems disabled had to pay because it was a Saturday!! Anyway when we got back (Saints lost to 1.0 to Man U in the cup, Denis Law scored) When I looked at the parking ticket I saw 14.57 was the time of issue!!!!!!!!!!! Then I saw the Reg mistake. Just one letter out but you could see it had been written in a hurry. When I looked at the others they were obviously in a lot neater hand writing so the blighter obviously was rushing to get mine into the book before the dead line, the basket!! As I said though didn't pay it because of the error!! Obviously not a saints fan.........
My brother got arrested after a Villa v Saints game back in the 1980's. There were about 100 Villa fans trying to get on the minibus my brother and his mates were on. Things were looking grim until the law arrived, they took one look at the situation and decided the best option was to arrest the 15 Saints fans! All were subsequently charged and convicted of public order offences, even though they had done nothing wrong.
http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/ParkingInformation If you click on Match Day Car Parks below the map at the bottom it brings up a list. When we went to the semi final in 2003 ( was it really 13yrs ago?) we parked in Manor Park Primary School in Church Road. It cost a tenner even back then but it was secure parking and about 10 minutes walk to the ground. I was going to park on the street until some little oik came up wanting money to protect my car, so we moved it to the school.
During their time at the police station the interviewing officer, when he had found out my brother's income, exclaimed (you'll have to imagine the Brummie accent): "**** me, so you're some of those upper crust football hooligans are you?" My brother subsequently had a chat to a solicitor he knew who advised him to plead guilty, as it was essentially the Saints fans' word against the police. Younger readers have to remember that in those pre-Hillsborough, pre-Taylor Report days, travelling football fans were generally treated worse than cattle by the authorities.
In my experience in recent times they still are treated like cattle. It really is disgusting sometimes!
