I have been waiting (for what seems ages now) for news of which players Charlton are going to release. From what Addicks fans said last season I thought the Doc would be a free and possible Hayes (because they have gone up). I haven't heard a thing, has anyone. Obviously it wouldn't be great if they came up on a free and we couldn't sign them due to the takeover, but every other club has released players already. In an ideal world I wouldn't mind them buying Beever for £750,000+ and we get Doc and Hayes as well. Can anyone shed any light on this - perhaps Waddock has had a word with Powell and they won't be released till we are in a position to sign them. Ron, I don't know how to involve Charlton fans in this, can you do that?
i have heard that doc was released, not sure about any others. but first, we need to lift the embargo
Not sure if either of them would want to drop to league 2 or our low wages, but I hope they do as we need to build with league 1 quality for when we do go up!
Hayes still has another 2 years and appears that he will be used as bait or off to Brentford or Colu (so the rumours go). I don't imagine he'll drop down to League 2 either. Doc is out of contract - he was linked to a club a few weeks back, if I remember right they were in League One. Still, I think it's possible you could snag him as I think low league one/high league 2 is his level (and thats being generous). As for other players - there have been some youngsters, loans + Mikel Alonso and Jason Euell.
http://www.cafc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10267~2767632,00.html We released Gary Doherty, Jason Euell, Tosan Popo, Freddie Warren, Mikel Alonso and Connor Gough Doherty recently held talks with AFC Wimbledon, but they didn't match what he wanted in wages. Connor Gough signed for Bristol Rovers. Heard no news on the rest of them though, aside from Chris Powell stating Euell would be welcomed back in a coaching role of some sort if he can't find a club. As for Paul Hayes, its generally agreed he won't be with us next season, though I'm not sure if he'd wish to step down to League Two level. He 'dropped down' to League One to sign for Charlton last summer, thinking it would be beneficial to him as he'd be playing all the time. Unfortunately the arrival of Yann Kermorgant lost him his place in the starting XI, cue Hayes tweeting "**** Charlton" or words to those effect. If he did sign, he'd be an immense signing for League Two. But I suspect he'll want to sign for a League One side at the very least.
Did he say that WWOCB? I remember him saying ''so ****** off'' before a game where he was out of the match day squad.
I believe he said that too. Perhaps I'm getting mixed up with somebody else who said '**** Charlton' are words to that extent? Can't think of who else it could be though, and I'm pretty sure it was Hayes. It was deleted rather quickly, but it was discussed on 'the other site' I believe.
Apologies, a quick google search has shone light on only one result so far...a link back to this forum on which Calydon_road mentioned the tweet, but nobody else had seen/heard about it. My mind must have been playing tricks on me a bit, I retract what I said about the Tweet. The rest is valid
HI WWOCB i was told about the tweet. dont use twatter myself, however i think its accurate. i dont think he used such a blatant expletive, however he did use that forum to express his frustration at not being selected. jackson had a word apparently and situation was quickly difused.
My Millwall workmates tell me that Racon is now fit. I told them he's always fit in July. It's when he starts playing football the problems start.
