What an absolute gent he is. He said he'd considered going out on loan, but Brucey had been very good with him, telling him when he was and wasn't going to be involved and while he was being shown that sort of respect, he was happy to stay at the club and do whatever was required of him. He always comes across well, there's a lot of footballers out there who could learn a lot from him.
Nice to see his loyalty repaid too, both sides seem to have set out their stalls as to where they stand. It would be nice to see him get a coaching role with the club, but sometimes it doesn't work, also he probably feels he's got a few years left in him yet.
It was a snip-it from the talk sport interview last night and he come across as a true gent and ultimate pro When he retires from payng he should get paid loads going round the country showing other footballers how to conduct themselves
I agree....100% gent I remember when I went to the training ground once with my son and all the lads were swearing etc and he actually came across to us and apologised for all the bad language
Daws = our last man standing that have played for us in all four divisions, part of a very special & dying breed.
He's a true legend of the club and I'm glad he's being recognised as such by City. Hope he goes into a coaching position with the youth as he'll be a great example for all the youngsters coming up through the ranks.
100% Hull City Legend. Agreed ^^^^^. Andy Dawson should be kept on by the club and used within the reserve team and coaching set up. With the loss of Nick Barmby the club needs a true legend to show all the youngsters how to conduct themselves both on and off the pitch. Without a doubt Dawson has a future role within the club and Steve Brucies set up. imo. City should also keep his playing registration just in case. Dawson still has a few miles left on the clock.
He should get a role at the club working with the, kids as a club ambassador, showing them how to conduct themselves on and off the pitch, explain the pitfalls of being highly paid pro footballers.
I am hoping thats why he staying with us due to a role coming up for him in the near future. You hope you can repay players who have given their all for your club, and when they need it you will give them something back. He is a top guy, someone i think every young player can look up to.
Agreed, though sadly Ashbee soiled himself when hanging around with that loser Jimmy Bullard. Andy Dawson has no such baggage. A king amongst pros. imo. Agreed also. The Allams really do reward loyalty. You could well be correct in Dawson getting a role on the coaching side but i would also keep him registered as a player just in case.
Andy Dawson - One of our best ever signings in my opinion. Never looked out of place in any of the divisions we have played in. Solid, dependable and a top professional. I also really hope he is offered a coaching role at the club. The pace of the game now has probably caught up with him a bit now, nevertheless, you know if he played he wouldn't let us down.
The best left back we've ever had IMHO and a top bloke too - needs to be kept on at the Club in some capacity - I can't see him having the heart to play for anyone else after his long tenure at the KC.
Legend. And like a proper one, not the **** way this term gets banded about for anyone that plays / scores for the club. Alongside Ashbee has to be the best servant the club's had in the last 20 years
I'm actually quite supprised he's only played 317 games for us, thought it would of been more. But yeah agree with everyone else. He's been fantasic, never let the Premier League go to his head.
Nothing to disagree with on here, Andy Dawson is a cracking guy and would be very welcome to extend his stay working with our youth, he is exactly the type of man to offer as a role model.
Part of it is because he feels it'd be wrong of him to go out on loan while we're all celebrating his testimonial year. Completely agree by the way that he'd be a great person to have around the club after his playing days are over. He is indeed a proper gent.
