According to a poster on there who seems very sure about this, we are about to complete the signing of a midfielder to compete with Hoolahan. He also seems to think we are going to pay £1.1m for the permanent signing of Kyle Naughton. Thoughts?
Well I would say yes but i'm not sure about imminent. I believe we need a midfielder with pace, a striker and Kyle on a perm is a good bit of business. Billy Sharp and snodgrass would please me
Get a shaving mirror, place it on the floor and squat over it..... Glad to be of some assistance JWM...
must admit i've not heard a peep out of any of my connections at the club. i do sometimes get a nod in the direction of a signing but can't help at all on this! i'm sure we will go after an attack-minded midfielder though. i think its an important area for us and hoolahan, although doing well, needs competition if i were to hazard a guess, lewis mcgugan is a player i know lambert likes. he's made it aware that he wants to leave forest and they are keen to get some decent money in for him. he's had a pretty poor season though maybe a change of scenery would do him good. we had a scout at previous forest games - we all assumed, because of the link, that it was for gunter. maybe its a red herring...
I think McGugan has already achieved cult - if not legendary status in the fine county of Norfolk for this alone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuOYTe0Kdpk
that is a genuinely magnificent free kick, regardless of the opposition... though granted it makes it even better!
Billy Sharp looks the part I reckon. But i'm torn on if we need a striker, we mustn't forget James Vaughan is ready to burst back onto the scene. He's been in conditioning training in america, like a full MOT. Lambert will just spring him like POW! I'd have Jordan Rhodes but Huddersfield wouldn't let him go I reckon. I think it would cut deep into Ipswich hearts if we could take there product and turn him into a star!
I think a lot depends on whether Lambert is confident Vaughan will make a full recovery and remain fairly injury free for the rest of the season. If he does then I personally see no reason to bring anyone else in up front, Simmo has proved that he can score at this level and I think he can have a big impact as the season draws on - like he did towards the tail end of last year. I've never liked Sharp personally after his ridiculous gloating a few seasons back at carra Rud. Obviously felt dreadful for him when he tragically lost his son a few months back and wish him and his family all the very best, but he's not a player I want to see in the yellow and green personally.
i'm with munky on this. billy sharp would be a mistake in my opinion. still think maynard is the one most suitable to our style. i do think we need to add another forward. pacheco would be great too and could play in the hoolahan role. we all know for a fact that he'd love to come back here! anyone who follows him on twitter would realise that, and he just seems like the nicest lad too, always happy!! cracking player too
***UPDATE*** According to the poster on there - we are definitely signing Whittingham and Maynard and we would of signed a third player today but for the fact he's Catholic and today is the Epiphany, so he couldn't sign. 11 pages of absolute bullshit!
Whittingham sounds interesting. Does ooze a bit of class at times and not afraid to shoot. But the Bluebirds are unlikely to want anyone to leave are they?
the best post on that thread was "Mornington Crescent!" other than that otherwise it was a bit spurious
