Bit off topic, but hey ho. I love skiing with the family , anyone else going ? I am in the French Alps(three valleys) in January for a week or so, although I may have to leave the 657 Flag and vivuzela at home though....
I'm snowboarding in April next year, in Norway. I'd love to get away at Christmas, but Uni won't give me the time I want- so I'm stuck here this Christmas. I went skiing in France once, SB3. Thoroughly enjoyable, although I prefer snowboarding. It's a lot easier than skiing- so good on you if you're good at skiing! Anyone else do any other "adventure" sports?? Surfing's a favourite for me- although I've only done in once in the UK. I went surfing in Wales .. .. and never again! It was freezing as hell, I think I'll stick to mainland Europe (Spain e.t.c) for surfing
We always go to the same place in the Alps, ski school starts at 9 am in the morning for the wife and me, and the kids go seperately at 9am ,then we all meet for lunch in the village, with plenty of 'vin chaud' and ski the entire mountain as a family in the afternoon. Can't wait , its actually better than Christmas.....
Only live a few hours from the Sierra Nevada in Spain, hoping to get down there this winter for the odd day or two. Have to wait for the broken arm (skateboarding) to heal first though. Have to agree with PL re the surfing....used to do Cornwall regularly, but it's a damn site warmer doing it over here. And hell yeah....beats xmas hands down.
Presumably you learnt to snowboard first? I've missed countless arfternoons of skiing thanks to that stuff. On the bright side, it makes the wipeouts a lot less painful. Have you ever been down the far side of the Les Men/Val Thorens valley? Some quality off piste down there.
Not this year alas - but planning to go in 2014. Usually, but not always, to Austria - and plenty of gluwein to keep us warm
Not that I know of! We always go to the same place its a very small french resort where there are very few English or Germans and mostly just French skiers and families. Its called La Norma. http://www.snowrental.net/france/la-norma/la-norma-webcam.html
After following poorsmouth, I'd have thought you'd be sick of slippery slopes? Anyhow, break a leg chump.
What a charmer you are HR - ever thought of getting involved as a hospital visitor ? You would empty the wards............
I like the cross country version, would love to have a go at Biathlon, but from watching it on Eurosport, you need to be megafit, they are slayed by the end. The crowd always look like a wacky bunch too, with all the fans of all countries having good fun together, which is nice to see.
Yes show some respect HR, after hundreds and hundreds of scummer pony fiddling threads, sb3 has decided to post something interesting. WOW
My friend at college broke her leg skiing, it was an Aaron Ramsey style tib and fib job right where the top of the boot was. We had a look at the X ray and there were about eight bits of bone floating around in there.
He probably already does- that NHS ward they showed on the news a week or two ago, where they "care" for old people looks more like a punishment/torture centre NHS need to discipline a lot of their workers ..
