judging by our lack of midfield at the moment maybe a three man wroe/mcallister/richards midfield, with two strikers and ainsworth/wright up front, if A/W were competing for a spot in the side then it might bring the best out of them, because they are pretty much guarunteed a start at the moment.

I would definitely agree with that for away from home but would stick with our present formation at home on our wide pitch as we have overall such a good home record this season. Interestingly, the player in my view most equipped to slot into the three man midfield would be Leslie, currently out on loan again!

I raised the Leslie idea last week. A solid midfielder is key in my mind to support the defense.

I've advocated 4-3-3 (or 4-5-1, depending) away from home for some time now. It worked brilliantly at Crewe last season and then we dropped it after an iffy first half at Stevenage. Never been seen since.

I don't get it - we too often end up with 2 wingers who are passengers and 2 overworked centre midfielders who drop too deep, leaving us with 2 isolated strikers who are also passengers for long spells. Even when we get the ball, we're in no position to attack effectively.

I know we've had 8 very tough away games (all against teams in the top half, Gas excepted of course) but we concede too readily and don't score enough. Time to try something different.

McAllister, Richards & Wroe in midfield, Wright & Ainsworth working with them and a lone striker. I know those two have their critics at the moment but Ainsworth's assists have been invaluable, even when he hasn't played that well, and Wright scores goals, which too many others don't.

I'd stick with 4-4-2 at home though, for now anyway.

i don't care what the formation is as long as all 11 are on a table, facing in the same way and have their hands attached to the rod so that when gt and rw put their tuppences in the machine and operates the rods we have non stop action for 93 minutes. this is the reason matty h was moved on as the carrots kept jamming the rods.

heres hoping rowlands vintage port overflows on saturday afternnoon

i agree, our home record speaks for itself, but 4-3-3 would maybe make us a bit more awkward for teams to play against us when were away from home, a clean sheet away, maybe one day!

Being able to (and used to) playing two formations would also mean a substitution could completely change the formation. You could also have Richards, Wroe, and McAlistair with Ainsworth in a free role behind two strikers.
