Played for Tranmere Rovers, and is about to sign for Bayern Munich <yikes>
    (story here)

That one slipped under the radar, normally you'd hear about some link to an English club, or they'd be bigging him up as the next big thing in the press, and you dont get a move to Bayern without a bit of skill.

Yeah he's a great prospect, hopefully this will see him play more at Bayern than if he had to Utd etc like Hargreaves and that'll only benefit the national team more

I remember the story, but don't remember him from seeing Tranmere play.

Seriously, imagine the guy in the office to first get the fax/email/call through saying that Bayern wanted their 19 year old player, he must have thought it was a prank!

Unfortunately, I can see him just playing in the reserves at Bayern until they decide to loan him out, and then he ends up back at Tranmere or Grimsby or somewhere where he finds that is actually his level.

Good luck to the lad! More english players should play abroad. Would improve our national side. Shame they'd all rather stick to the English league where they can earn ridiculous sums of money and no need to learn another langauge or adapt their play.

Still, even if you go to Bayern and it doesn't work out thats better than staying at Tranmere!

He'll be back in England in no time. English players do not travel well, it's happened time and time before. Owen Hargreaves is the only exception, he was awesome at Bayern and this showed in the national team.

Becks and Hargreaves did alright. Hardly any leave England though.

I think you're being very generous there. Woodgate was voted by Madrid's fans as their worst signing ever. Owen wasn't too bad at Madrid ok, but still failed to settle. Pennant had poor discipline at Zaragoza apparently and was slated by the manager.

Woody was in first few games (sending off and I think an own goal) but ended up good. As for discipline, Pennant is a **** in this country as well
