If Sunderland win it will push Wigan into the relegation zone. I think being there might give Wigan an even greater motivation on Saturday.
Personally I'd be happier with a draw as it would be two dropped points for both and not give either one a shot in the arm. The further they, Villa and Sunderland stay behind us the happier I'll be. I think Wigan will be highly motivated on Saturday regardless of their league position at the start of play as they will have seen this fixture as a chance of a least a point at the start of the season.
a draw would be best, or a Reading win (unlikely but you never know). i think Sunderland will win but it will be cagey as hell. honestly, as we are doing so well i've been looking at midtable and above recently. i know CH and co won't be complacent like that, but as a fan, that's what i find myself doing.
If I had to want a winner it would be Sunderland because 1. I like them since all them years ago 2. I would rather see two teams cut adrift at the bottom. A draw would be nearly as good from a selfish point of view though
I also want a Sunderland win, for the same reason as Thai, but also because I've stayed in touch with cyprussyd and regard him as a very good friend, to the extent that he's putting me up at his house next March and taking me to the match between Cats and Canaries!
Yeah, definitely got my fingers crossed for a draw. To be honest, that's my policy when any two teams below us in the table play, I'd much rather only 2 points is shared between teams below us, than one team pick up 3 points, as it probably means fewer points will be needed to survive. I'm loving the position we're in at the moment, but I'm very much concentrating on the 9 point gap below us, than the 4 point one above us.
