That Fabio Borini will be back with us in january to fire us into that champions league spot ??? We can all dream cant we ?
It would be nice to be able to choose between Fabio and Danny Graham if the Graham bid comes off. Hope he doesn't like Parma and comes back as unlikely as it is
Looks like other clubs are also in for Graham so we'll have to wait and see. Would still like Kevin Phillips as a back up, impact, striker for his terrific record and Premiership experience but he looks bound for Watford. As for Fabio, I think he is the hottest young prospect of a striker that I've seen in many a year. I don't wish him ill at Parma but, if things don't work out for him, I hope that Buck snaps him up.
Jesus Phillips is like a 100 years old there is no way on this earth I want him at our club, Graham or a player like him who is young and hungry is the way to go, brining someone in the wrong side of thirty is a no go IMO ! Borini coming back on loan could be realistic, not that I know Parma at all except for cheese have they captured him as an investment to go out on loan, or someone who will play the game everytime ? Wonder if there are any of their fans on here ?
What about the ham then, Jager? Disagree about Phillips. At his age I'm not suggesting that he would be anything other than an impact sub. Any player with his wealth of experience and ability however, would be an asset to the club (if the money was right). He would bring vast knowledge of the BPL and be a calming influence in the dressing room as someone who has been there and done it with a great deal of success - and you NEVER lose that instinct if you're a born goal scorer as he is. Longer term, I'm just totally gutted that we lost out on Fabio.
Agreed once again ivor, you speak a lot of sense. Philips will always have the legs for half an hour at least, and he will always, always score goals. Any of our strikers would benefit from having him in training playing with them, and as you say he´d be a good influence in the dressing room I think, having more experience playing in the top division than the rest of our team put together, probably! Real, real shame about Fabio too. I wouldn´t be surprised if that rumour of him being gutted is true. He can hardly expect to be first choice striker at Parma, so he´ll be going into a new team once again where he might not suit the style. Here he would´ve been pretty much guaranteed first choice striker with a team playing a style he suited, and also where he has Sinclair on one side (who he played with before coming here anyway!) and Dyer, who... well, he´ Nathan Dyer! I´d say he´d have been guaranteed to score a few goals at least for us, and if it wasn´t working out he´d easily have been able to get a big money move to someone in the Premiership, Italy or Spain.
Cheers, Scott, and your comments regarding Fabio are spot on. I don't wish him to fail at Parma but my cheers would lift the roof off if he came back to us. Future Italian international without a doubt - it's written all over him.
Agree with the comments about Kevin Phillips, i wrote an article on him about 2 days ago about the possibility of signing him, mixed review tbh
