I know our net spend is 0, it's been slow on the transfer front the last week and team's around us have some new things to rave about with blind optimism. Newcastle United might never be certain, however, it's never dull.

We seemingly have brought in some good younger players and our turnover to wages % will be superior to most teams (seemingly around 55%) by the end of next season. Apart from the supposed big 4 I cannot see anyone to fear too much. Even teams like Liverpool who are spending big, bringing in English talent! I doubt we will see Henderson/Adam beating Cabaye/Tiote in a midfield battle at St James.

Last season we were a flag bearer of the Premier League for English player ratio in our team and finished mid-table. So there is no real issue with trying something a little different, such as recruiting talented Frenchmen? Personally I have little anxiety about the new campaign, nor do I doubt our team will be stronger than last season.

So much pessimism on the Newcastle over a stale week, seriously some people are starting to sound like Villa fans (who might as well be Goths, writing a poem about how they hate their parents). Fair enough Ashley sucks and Pardew is a little bit of a puppet. But Big big Mike has lost allot of money on us thus far, I doubt he's going to let his investment slip down again.

Chip up and move fast, Villa sucks and were going too hurt some clubs again. :cheesy:

I'm not nervous like last year, just wondering how good we will be if all the new signings settle and Ba stays fit. Also wondering who the next striker we get will be...

Obviously the top 4 are only getting stronger, but I think we could beat anyone from 5/6th down if all goes to plan.

One minor concern is that the English players likely to start for us is going right down. Last year our best XI could easily include 7 Englishmen, 3 (4 when Carroll was here) of them Geordies. Now it looks like it might just be Simpson, Saylor and Barton.

Wait till they see Ben Arfa and then no one will enjoy playing us. We've got a lot to look forward to next year

On the English front. Really i couldnt give a **** where our players are from anymore, we buy them and still Crapello ignores them

Barton :- Deserves a call up
Harper :- Even as 2nd/3rd Choice
Carroll :- Only got called up due to the media

True, and we'll still be well within the home grown rule. Hope Gosling stands out and maybe nails down a first team place so we dont miss Barton too much in a years time.

If this French revelation doesn't work out, Pardew and Ashley would most likely panic and recruit English players again. Our squad will have more than enough to satisfy any home grown rules. To be fair, we should be proud of the English representation in our squad, however, If other teams don't do it..... why should we?

Whenever I think about English players I'd like, there's very few (who would be available), Sturridge is the only one that jumps out at me, wish we'd sign him.

It does indeed, then we've even got a reserve midfield as well:

    ---------Guthrie------Gosling
    Marveaux-------Vuckic--------Ferguson

I am a huge Sturridge fan too! He would be a great signing, but Pardew has stated he isn't even considering him.

Has he been quoted as saying that? Awh man :(

Still, plenty of small, pacy strikers about, probably much cheaper if we get a foreign one in anyway.

I'm certainly excited about next season and see us having thebpotentoal to improve on our finishing position.

Still a long time to go until the window shuts and I do see further signings on the horizon to strengthen the squad as a whole.

Ben Arfa will be like a new signing due to his injury last year that robbed us of the opportunity to see how effective he would have been to create chances.
