Pierre seems to have quickly become a key player at Spurs, with rave reviews and a MoM yesterday. To be frank I am actually amazed that he has done so well. I expected him to be dropped after a few, but give him praise he looks like a completely different player!!!

Not at all. He’s a good player and I said when he went there that surrounded by a better quality squad, he only has to do what he’s best at. Win it, give it.

for a period here he was expected to do that dirty stuff and more.

No. Said for a rather long time that his issue here was one of role: namely, we were really asking him to do two things at once, both serving as the primary screen for our defense and getting forward in support of attacks. He can do either, but very few players can do both at the same time. He was a revelation when he first joined the club and was able to push forward and press further up the pitch, but didn't adjust terribly well to his "go do all the things" role.

I said it all summer. He was a very good player for us, the numbers backed it up and showed how effective he was at what RH required of him as primary duties. For some reason our fans loved to dig him out for things he didn’t do well instead of recognising all the things he’s great at. For Spurs now he’s doing the exact same things well and attempting less of the things which aren’t his great strengths. That’s why Mourinho is a serial winner and will always make a team greater than the sum of its parts.

He is very limited as a CM but when you have Harry Kane and Son you can afford for that. All he has to do is protect the CBs and break up play, then get the ball to Kane or Son asap. And he does a bloody good job of it.

Excellent on his day but had a bad attitude in his final season here and looked half-arsed.

    No regrets letting him go.

To be fair to Mourinho, he knew what he was getting there and how to make best use. Good luck to the bloke, not sure he’s a great loss to us really.

Well that's unusual. Spurs and Saints fans could probably make the play off finals for pissed off fans most seasons.

I'm genuinely pleased for the bloke. We either couldn't or wouldn't get the best out of him and he's developed. Always pleased to see an ex-Saint make progress. He did his job for us, said thank you very much and moved on. Like Sadio Mane. Unlike Adam Lallana!

Very neutral on this. Good bloke, no hard feelings. We haven’t missed him, and happy KWP cane the other way.
