Does anyone else feel it is a massive mistake trusting seabourne at this level? And that a good cb could make a serious difference?

Not essential, but it would give us more depth.

Depends on your goal. If you want to get near promotion then yes it is official, if you want stability and a nice mid table finish another cb would be advised, and if we are content with living in the championship with some nerves between 21st-13th then we will be able to do without a new cb.

need strength in depth in defence. Probably we're ok in other areas, but cb essential.

Sorry, i know it was a live game on tv, but i still have nightmares of Seaborne being pulled all over the place by the posh foreword line, if they can do that whats going to happen to him in the Championship. Just my opinion.

I'm sure 90% of us feel that another CB is, at the very least, something we could do with. Maybe not "essential" in some people's eyes (though certainly essential in mine), but like I say, at least something we could do with.

I really don't think too many of us are looking at Fonte, Jaidi, Seaborne and Martin, and are saying "Yep, I'm happy with those options. Don't see the need to strengthen there".

Without doubt! Especially as the club's ambition is to get back into the Premier League.
That in mind, we need TWO solid central defenders, not just one.
As I skip through the highlights and look at the goals we conceded, and those we didn't / but might have conceded in League One, I really fear for Saints in the Championship. I think there were times we walked the proverbial tightrope last season.

However, on a more positive note, I predict a play-off place for Saints, because I really do believe that Adkins and Cortese will bring in the players needed.

Sorry to be a pedantic pain but it's 'Seaborne', no 'u' :)

And yes, we need another CB, and all the indications are that we're close to bringing one in.

We need at least another CB of Jaidi's ilk but a bit nippier perhaps. Seaborne does have his weaknesses unfortunately and in the scheme of things would wonder if he has time to learn his trade a bit better in view of the target expressed to get us back to the Premiership.

We need another CB - whether Seaborne can make the grade in the Championship is another matter - none of know - although many will speculate. He is a good squad player, has looked great preseason, even assured at LB when Martin came on against WBA. With 5 subs only this season - you need players who cover more than one position - this could make him valuable for the team.

Yes we do need new CB. I don't think its all about "can Seaborne play in the championship or not ?"
as he is yet untested at this level. However, he did do well on both occasions when he played against
prem opposition. Both Blackpool & Man Utd he looked solid.

I think it's more about what Jaidi & Martin have looked like in pre season.
Sorry but Jaidi has looked jaded & off the mark at the moment.
Martin not looking up to the job yet and proving he needs a loan spell to get game experience.

If we only had Fonte & Seaborne with Martin & Jaidi as back up that would be the main problem
especially if Seaborne failed to perform in the championship.

Think if Jammel has been spotted at Chilworth Manor than that is the man we will be getting.

Only what I read on here so it must be true ha. Saw it on the thread "It will be either today or tomorrow..." post 8 by Saint Possum. Who it seems a few on here know from other forums? and has been right in the past.

Do you think there is any truth in it ? Hope so as he looks a great signing.

Supersaint7 - Why are you on here talking about football? You normally go on other peoples sites and talk about sheep rape.

Yes, heaven forbid Fonte gets injured we would be in serious poop with our current line up.

To be fair if the ball hadn't deflected off Chamberlain's armpit hairs (not that he has any) in the 93rd minute then we would have forgotten all about that.

Yes Seaborne was pulled all over the place by the posh foward line - but a lot of other teams defenders were aswell. Fonte couldn't even cope with Mackail Smith that day.
