All the talk has been on players we have signed, would like to sign, have failed to sign or the usual "linked with" rumours. Any news on departures? Even loans? From reading the recent posts we look like wanting to get shot of some of the fringe players and the dead wood but does any other club want our cast offs? Some of the names mentioned did quite well for us last season so I would think Championship teams would be interested. No other Premiership sides are going to take them off us IMO. The likes of Cook, Vine, Dave, Hulse, Borrowdale, Big Dan, etc etc all know they don't have a place in the first team any longer so are they pushing for a move or just happy to train and earn a wage? Am I right in thinking that the transfer window doesn't apply to loans? If that is the case then Sparky might see what he has cobbled together before letting any of the squad players go out on loan. Any thoughts?
Think you're right about the loans regarding these players. Premier League clubs are not allowed to make any loans after February 1st, but lower league clubs can loan from Premier League teams. And as you say there probably won't be any takers in the PL, it will be loan deals to lower league clubs IF they move as the ones you've mentioned are free agents come summer.
Agree too much dead wood that we need to get rid of. Reckon MH will get rid of many players when time is right.
All/most out of contract in the summer. Cant imagine there will be a host of takers even then to be honest, but at least we'll have all those wasted wages off the books.
On a side note, I can see a cheeky rise in ST prices next year too provided we stay up this year. Not that this would bother me in the slightest, as at least the owners we have now have genuinely put their hands in their pockets and made some good signings. Id happily pay a bit more to see more quality at the Loft!.
Rise in season ticket prices is a nailed on certainty next year. MH and TF will have spent bundles in this window and the next (if we stay up) and the outlay will be reflected in a hike in prices. They need to make the most out of our 18,000 capacity and with the likes of Wigan bringing two bus loads it stretches the funds even more. We took more away to see our kids sports day than Wigan brought to W12!
I think thats why everyone had an issue with previous hikes, they would'nt have minded if we spent some dough. saying that we have only spent 2.75 m in this window at present.
In fairness id say this window and the back end of the Jan window count towards their expenditure. Altho the initial fees may not be high, but the wages those players command and the calibre of players has vastly improved. So a hike in STs for an 18k+ stadium is fine by me. And if ppl cant understand this they will need their heads examined. until we get our 25k-35k seater stadium in the future anyway. Oh the joys of being an R, wouldnt change it for the world!!
