Don't get me wrong, what happened to them was funny as **** for Karma more than anything else. All that "Enjoy Burton away" bollox really did come back to bite them on their arses, and the only club I can think of that could have made as big a tit of themselves on Netflix is probably us. I'm not even going to criticise their fans over that STID as no doubt the producers would have found some right wallopers from our ranks, it was those smarmy bastard owners that got everything they deserved. However......... I miss the Derby. Neither of us challenge for the PL, neither of us challenge for the FA Cup or the League Cup. Aye we lost 6 in a row, aye they currently crow on crow but so would we. Let's be honest the derby games are our cup finals. I miss the build up to them, I miss the atmosphere in the city that only those games bring. I even miss the smoggy's pretending to both us and Sunderland that they are relevant and deserve to be called a rival. I'm now hoping they get back to back promotions and the smoggy's find a way too so we can have the derby and the North East v North Yorkshire games back. Anyone else?
I've always wanted all the local teams to be doing well - but not quite as well as us. It makes the rivalry better and more enjoyable and the banter a much better quality than just throwing 'turd division' at them. It's also good for the area to have as many teams doing as well as possible. Having a Premier League team brings in about £40M to the local economy and supports quite a few jobs. The knock on effect of that goes well beyond city boundaries and so helps the whole region.
Don't get me wrong I'd be quite happy for them to sit 16th and 17th and scrapping between themselves for safety, I don't wish them that much success. There's also no way I would want them to do well in the cups at our expense or anything either, I just miss it. There's also no way I would ever want to face either of them in a cup final - **** THAT. Can you imagine the MET trying to handle both our clubs down there at once. Never mind the MET the NHS wouldn't cope as both sets of fans tried to outdo each other at diving head first into the shallowest puddles
Yeah I don't want them to win anything anymore than they would want us to, but it is a much better rivalry when both teams are doing well. I miss the interaction we used to have with the ones on here. There are some good lads on their forum who just had the misfortune to be born in the wrong place.
May need to be a truce from the ban hammers from both sides? I know its one side more than the other like but there's bound to have been a load of them banned over here too. Also If everything with regards them is merged into one thread and everything with regards us is merged into one thread its not exactly interactive.
Not that many to be honest and some of those at their own request for their own good. Probably won't happen for a while as I'm not sure how constructive some of our posters criticism is when they do pay a visit!

I kinda miss the derbies. But to be honest I don't miss them that much now. They turned into a set of arseholes as a fanbase some time ago (there are exceptions to the rule). The whole KK era had a bad effect on them, they developed a chip on the shoulder. So they constantly piss and moan, constantly get on their moral high horse without justification (as displayed with the takeover), and constantly give off a hard done to vibe. It wasn't just KK, they've been left behind as an area, its a bit of a ****hole through lack of investment. I feel for them in this regard because we all hate the tories. They had a good run against us, went overboard, which is fair enough but then got their comeuppance hurtling down the leagues. Did they get some humility from it? Did they ****. So for me when the derbies come back around, they'll still have that attraction. But actively seeking it? Nah I don't really care about them or what happens to them. I'll still obviously laugh at their troubles but that's about it really. Plus its difficult to take an interest with what is happening for us now.
Anyone missing them need not worry. The way things are going, we will end up in the same league as them next season!
