This is really hard to explain, but I'll do my best.

As much as I love Hull City and support them as much as I physically (not to mention psychologically and spiritually!) can, there are some things that just annoy me about some of our other fans. I'm sure other clubs have them too, but I don't really care about them. And let it be said that this isn't just on here, it's in the pub, on TV and social media.

It's the over optimistic ones. As in, as soon as somebody has a gripe with the club (such as the Duffen saga, NP buggering off or the recent rebranding) and posts their opinions, you get a wave of people saying the same old manufactured ****e.

It's like a flow of buzzwords, that usually go something like: "Come on, support the club, we are Hull City, we are the Tigers and we're the greatest team in the world. If you don't like it go support Leeds UTT COYH etc etc". And that's a response to something simple like "If they change the name of our club, it'll be a disaster."

We don't hand out medals to #1 fans (unless there's a competition I've missed); who are they trying to prove themselves to? Don't get me wrong, supporting our club is great and I don't like to put people down who follow HCAFC, but it's that almost false, pretentious way that's given subtext that says "I'm a better fan than you, look at all my support. I'm the model you should be following". It does my ****ing head in.

In all honesty, I'm pretty sure it's the younger fans who, granted, are always going to be overflowing with optimism and I'm hardly going to break their balls over it. It just annoys me when you get older fans who act like they're Mr Hull City, whose opinions are de facto and to go against their ethos is to **** on the club. It's bollocks and I'm sick of it. We've never been a club that's had primadonnas or made ourselves out to be better than we were, so why do we have fans reflecting a nature that isn't in the club?

Yes, I'm 25 and already cynical as ****.

So basically you're saying because you can't manage to give the club your full support, you get pissed off that others can?

If you are a supporter, you don't have to like what decisions the club may or may not make but you support them through everything thick and thin.

So why not try supporting a bit more? You might feel better about it.

Nope, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying I don't agree with the fans who think that their way of supporting the club is the right way to do it and those who heavily chastise others for having a different opinion.

Where did I say I didn't give them my full support? As much as I can is all I can give. If I gave any more than I could give I'd have to be chopped up and put into the pies. You might have mistaken 'as much as I can' to mean 'as often as I can', which isn't the same thing.

Indeed. Although I became an argumentative, opinionated ****er at a very early age. I was 10 years old, but I was already criticising at an A-Level standard.

No, just sick of the ****s who try pointing out what a **** fan I am for having my own opinions. I've never supported any other club, so what makes them a better fan than me? Surely if you're a City fan, there shouldn't be any competition between us to look like the better ones? They make out it's like a caste system, with the best followers at the top, and those they deem to be **** at the bottom. It's like, who do they think they are?

I suppose you're right, I don't really know why it pisses me off so much. It just does.

Your signature is my opinion in a nutshell. Kudos.

    Got ya tommy.

So in a nutshell you're criticising fans who criticise other fans, because you don't like people who criticise other fans?

I remember supporting City during a past life, and I just knew I had to carry on the good work when I was reincarnated.

The last email I had from the club said at the bottom "Hull City Association Football Club Ltd" so where has this re-branding come from? Perhaps the club has listened to the fans after all??

    Got there in the end!

It's not as black and white as that though. I think the 4th paragraph sums up my feelings perfectly. I just don't think it's fair for people to be that righteous about their support.

I'm a commie at heart. Every fan should be equal and anybody who considers themselves a better fan than others should be tied to a gun carriage and flayed until their bones poke through their skin. Make an example of one, the others will follow.

I'm with you Tommy, most of it anyway. Its like the fans that believe that sitting in a particular stand makes them superior, reference to Happy Clappers & Flaskers as if there is only one way to support the Tigers and its their way.
Come three o'clock ( but with Sky it could be anytime) we are all the same....i think we are anyway.

cynicism used to be an ageing thing and in City's case the older generations were hardened to it after decades of underachievement so its funny now to seeing old moaning City fans presented with yet another Premier League season and virtually nothing left to moan about!

How can all the City fans who turn up for the Norwich game possibly be equal in their support?
