I'm a keen Sussex fan, don't be confused because I support Pompey (in Hants). I was born and bred in the Chichester area (West Sussex). I'm hoping we can win yet another trophy this year, preferably the big one, but a one dayer would be nice.
It's all about Gloucestershire this year.... They're the team to watch! Promotion is almost certain..................
Welcome to not606 Lawnmower. Did you see any of the match? I've been doing some major OT at work, and missed most of it. We suddenly seem to have clicked.
I saw quite a lot of the game (Sky). We have a strong side - Naved and Anyon bowled really well. Two opening century partnerships obviously helped a lot too. I also thing we have some strong reserves and Lou Vincent, Gul and Parnell still to come. There's a lot of competition. Pleased to see us playing one wicketkeeper for a change.
Couldn't quite make it against Yorks. A shame. That could seriously affect their title chances. Anyone feel Sussex may have a chance in the CC this year? Until the last match it looked like we could only bat in the second innings. I must say I have been heartened by the performances since Lancs away. I have gone from abject pessimism to rampant optimism and feel (post Yorks) I am on my way down again.
I went to the T20 game against Essex last night. I thought our bowling was exceptional. Obviously Rana was inspired, but I thought Parnell and Liddle looked fast. I was also particularly impressed with how sharp Sussex looked in the field. Out of interest does anyone know how long we have Parnell for? I think will be really important for us this year.
The squad seems really well-balanced. The top four are all firing in the CC, while the bowling attack in T20 is pretty impressive. I guess Gul will take over from Rana in T20, leaving Parnell as our overseas player for the rest of the season.
