As we've seemingly been linked with every player under the sun this summer, do we think there is room left for a surprise or two tomorrow?

I think we all knew about Barton, Young and Traore in advance of their moves but the Anton Ferdinand interest seems to have come out of nowhere. I wonder if NW has a couple of Aces up his sleeve for deadline day? Crouch with any luck.

    Also any news on SWP?

We might go for Clint Dempsey or Niklas Bedtner as Crouch is out of our price range. Not my words by the way.

Agree - I dont see why everyone is so excited about Crouch. Never rated him, he misses way more than he scores and I can't see how he fits into our style of play. His international record, while impressive on paper, is padded with cheap goals against weak opposition. 'Arry seems unconcerned that he is a target for other teams but he has to be the most overrated English forward since Luther Misset. Watch him and his contribution in Spurs build up play and he is a liability more than an asset. Massive step backwards if we waste money on him.

Much more excited about Ridgewell, Dann etc....most succesful premier league teams start with a solid defence. We seem to have a reasonable amount of flair going forward - and for all his faults SWP will add to that....his pace causes problems even if his distribution is poor....but lets be honest he and others we are muted to sign are an improvement. I dont see that Crouch who played for a top 6 team last year and scored less than DJ who played for a team that was relegated improves our team....

I don't think they're aces either. I mentioned them more because of the headline of the thread 'Any surprises in store for tomorrow?' than their footballing ability.

I think his career tally is 1 goal every 4 games. I'd take him.

I think DJ and Jay will exceed that - and his career tally is fluffed up by his international goals of which a lot are against Mickey Mouse oppositiona and / or in friendlies. Never understood the attraction........Apart from that would be really concerned about how his presence would affect our playing style - if we bought him for $11m he'd play most weeks and passing to feet would soon disappear. Watch England play when he's picked

too be honest, Crouchy would be a good shout because (1) if we are losing or winning game and NW wants to change things around it will make life easier, plus (2), DJ could florish on his flick-ons. I dare say that Jamie M (once he returns) SWP (If we get him) and Tommy Smith will also benefit. Quite how Adel will adapt to him I'm not sure, but so far our signings seem to have bit more about them than Swansea or Norwich (no disrespect intended).

Dont get me wrong - I'm delighted we are even associated with an England striker who plays for a top six club but........you sort of reinforced my point in that his contribution for $10m+ is the ability to win a few headers and provide flick-ons. Despite his previous reputation Warnock has pleasantly surprised me by his intention to "play football" and Crouch will not contribute to that. Whatever the starting line-up footballers with the ability of Faurlin, Taraabt, Barton, Boothroyd etc are more what I would pay to see and will contribute more long term to us as a club.....would much rather throw the money at 2/3 solid defenders as that is where we are still deficient - notwithstanding the 2 additions in the last few days......Anyone else worried about back-up to Kenny?? Still amazing we're even having this debate eh?

It's all down to price with Crouchy. At say £5-6 million he'd be worth buying. At £11 million which is what it might take I think we could definitely buy 2....maybe 3 solid players instead.
Oh and I just saw someone on twitter say we're in talks with Henri Lansbury. I swear people are just making these up. As exciting as tomorrow will be I'll be glad when the window is over.

Well, Chaps I do not think much of Crouchy, as I watched him first time round when he played for us years ago! Not much then, not much now. Sorry!!

MACHEDA from Man Utd is mentioned on one site.... A better prospect than Crouch!!
Doubt it's true but loving all the speculation.

    QPR IN FOR SUNDERLAND DEFENDER
    SportingPreview.com: 31 August 2011

Press Association Sport understands that QPR manager Neil Warnock is interested in signing Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand as he looks to again bolster his squad before Wednesday's transfer deadline.

Ferdinand has been regularly linked with a move away from Sunderland this summer and could now be set for a move to west London. Reports are also suggesting that Warnock is also looking to tie up a deal for Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

QPR are also being heavily linked with Manchester United striker Federico Macheda on loan but are fighting it our with Newcastle for his signature.

And earlier on Tuesday, Arsenal defender Armand Traore signed for QPR on a three-year deal.

Traore, 21, said: "When I talked to Neil he was very passionate about what I could bring to the club.
