i think fan ownership is the way forward - its one of the reasons you can go to most Bundesliga games for the same price as watching the town... they have open training sessions, and high attendances.

One thing i would do if i had any say would be to lower the price of tickets drastically to games which are likely to be low attendance, as it would boost attendance therefore bringing in more money through food and beverage sales, whilst providing a better atmosphere...

I think the sad fact is that a cap on ticket prices will never be introduced - clubs will always vote against it. Ultimately, teams like Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United right at the top are justified in their extortionate prices due to the fact they sell out without fail. Not saying I agree with the prices, but you can't expect clubs to cut revenue as a sentimental gesture.

If a large group of fans were to take over a club, then it could definitely prove to be a good thing for the club but could also go badly off the rails.

Was it Ebbsfleet where they had to vote on signing players? How well is that going?

I seem to remember it started off well before petering out and I think it no longer runs. I remember reading about it on the BBC.

Of course, logic dictates it should work well - using the wisdom of crowds means there should be a greater chance of being right.

Sorry Lenny but you need to check facts....Chelsea may be expensive but it's £9 cheaper at Old Trafford than Portsmouth....been there done it! Was gobsmacked!
I do however agree with you totally....just picked bad examples and there will always be some awkward bu***r who spots it!!!:emoticon-0111-blush

Oops! Oh well, still too much to pay to watch football and above the £20 limit proposed, so I suppose I could say that's what I was saying. Plus I'd imagine the better seats would be a fair bit more... :emoticon-0165-muscl:emoticon-0139-bow::emoticon-0163-pizza:emoticon-0183-swear:emoticon-0140-rofl:

Not sure what relevance those emoticons have, but it truly is an impressive selection.

Matster..... its a totally different format at Ebbsfleet and one that will never work!
Most fan based clubs have unpaid directors who run the club on a daily bases, these directors are businessmen who are staunch supporters of the club, and who are voted on or off at AGMs by the supporters....
in the case of Wrexham and Chester, the only staff that get paid are the players and their trainers, in Wrexhams case the rent they pay to the University is off set by the sponsorship that the University gives back, so no ground up keep and no rent to pay, most other business like to get involved knowing that their sponsorship money is going directly to team building and not some board of directors salaries and expenses, and supporters are happy because everything is transparent creating a good community club, but the most important factor is that you know the football club is safe and secure for the rest of its life.....when the aging Rowland pops his cork or retires...what next for us?....if Rowland on his retirement offered the club to the supporters at a fair price would you be willing to put your hand in your pocket, or just wait and see what our next chairman and board are going turn out to be?

If there was a fan's trust prepared to take over the club, I'd definitely put a bit towards it. Nothing huge, but that's the nature of a fan's trust - four or five more wealthy supporters backed by the masses with considerably less cash to spare.

with our fan base i think we could raise the finance within two or three seasons, it would be worth getting a supporters trust up and putting the question to Rowland just to try and secure a future for our club, they recon getting rid of the deadwood in a club(paid directors) a club could save up to £800,000 a year
