Anyone here have a fondness for a club other than Arsenal? Not the passion that ruins your weekend when they lose but a passive affection that has you checking the fixture list or results for another club. I'll go first: Wigan - promoted the same season I truly became an Arsenal fan. Knocked us out of the Carling Cup if I remember correctly (remember Paul Jewell), but I still have a soft spot for them. Brugge KV or Club Brugge - I studied abroad in Brugge my junior year in college and enjoyed everything about the experience of being a "tourist" fan. Honorable mention: I was raised Catholic (no longer practice) but occasionally find myself defending Celtic. So, any of you lot have a second or third team. btw I know its early in the UK but I've got a red eye to catch for Thanksgiving to see my parents. Happy Holidays. COYG Edit to add, I don't mind non-Arsenal letting us know there other clubs, etc.
A while ago i had my fav overseas clubs. I used to follow Inter when they bought Christian Vieri (still remember the hatrick he scored on his debut) plus I really enjoyed that channel 4 show on italian football (goalazio??? was it???). I used to be partial to Real back in the day as well. But now its only arsenal i follow.
Dorchester Town. Non league, home town and supporters trust owned/run. Happily there will always be zero conflict of interest between clubs!
Thanks guys...expected a few posts re :QPR Stood in the old clock end on many occaisions, grew up with Mers... Plenty of R's still follow the Gunners... good luck this season...hope you get something...esp with Ozil & Ramsey on fire right now !
When I was growing up my official local club was split geographically directly between Millwall and Charlton, but I've always had a soft spot for the Hammers. Partly because I used to bunk off of college in Newham to go and watch the reserves, partly because a lot of my old mates are West Ham fans and partly because they hate Spurs almost as much as us. The recent 0-3 was particularly satisfying, because I know how much it meant to Hammers fans.
That's us. Best non league ground bar none in England. Was built for us by the Duchy as they wanted our old ground to build Tesco on! Seems a bit cavernous these days as we're absolutely awful but when Weymouth *spits* come to play we've had 4000 plus which, for non league, is amazing. I do love non league football. Always seems a lot more personal and I've made a lot of good friends over the years. I also very much appreciate being able to have a pint whilst the game is on (at most grounds)! Believe me, these days I need it
Pics? I bet Cherrywood Road could give it a run for it's money (especially once the new stand is finished)!
Also Ive been to watch Poole Town a few times and they have some crazy fans. Also my home town club Maidstone United, who are marching up the non-league ladder once again.
Farnborough right? Christ. Nice fans and all but they've boomed and busted so many times I've lost patience with them. I'm also very dubious where the money came from for the new stand. I'm no fan of their ground to boot, especially now it's being done up. Feels like it was brought in Ikea to me. Here are some pictures of the 'pies stadium. Note that we have genuine stone walls all the way around - tres fancy. None of this corrigated iron sh*te. Turns out our offical photos are a bit rubbish. I've better ones at home but they generally have me in them being a bit of a d*ck so they won't be going up online... Most non-league fans won't have a bad word to say about the ground. Only exception being Weymouth fans or people too fat to get through our ridiculously narrow turnstyles.
Gloucester City AFC? http://www.bbc.co.uk/gloucestershir...loucester_city_afc_flood_appeal_feature.shtml
I've had a slash up one of those walls when I've forgotten to use the toilet in Tesco and gone to get my petrol from the station right next to the ground. Sorry mate
I'm grew up a stones throw from our original founding fathers so I lay claim to being a roots Gooner.
I grew up a 2 minute stroll from the spuds ground, which is NOT on White Hart Lane and have pissed on their walls more times than you've had your ginger barnet dyed .
My hair isn't piss coloured you ****. And growing up right next to the spuds ground I consider it your civic duty to regularly slash up their walls.
