This team any good? Where do you reckon it will finish?

    Manager: Alan Pardew

    Krul/Forster

    Simpson
    Saylor
    Coloccini
    Ferguson?/Tavenier?/Kadar?

    Jonas
    Cabaye
    Tiote (hopefully)
    Marveaux

    Ben Arfa

    Ba

Subs: Harper, Williamson, Raylor, Gosling, Vuckic, Ameobi, Best. (Lovenkrands, Guthrie, Smith, Ranger)

Over a course of a season I see:

    Pros:- Individual talent. Pace. Skill.

Cons:- Huge weaknesses at full back, injury proneness, screams inconsistency, lack of strenght in depth, the unknown with new signings.

We all hope that a new signing or two will be arriving....but we aren't holding our breath.

Is it better than this team going into last season?:

    Manager: Chris Hughton

    Harper

    Simpson
    Saylor
    Colloccini
    Enrique

    Barton
    Nolan
    Tiote
    Jonas

    Ben Arfa

    Carroll

Subs: Krul, Raylor, Williamson, Routledge, Smith, Lovenkrands, Ameobi (Perch, Guthrie, Campbell, Best, Vuckic)

I dont think so. But what can you do?

Lower mid table if I am being realistic. Mind you I might be a little pessimistic due to our current situation

Just a very strong feeling I have. He was given a contract in January to up his price. If we didnt want to sell him, we wouldn't have needed to give him one.

Come deadline day at the latest a top 6 team will be in for him. If not a top European team

Think it's only fair to compare it to the team we played most last season if you think about it. Average line up was

Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Colo, Enrique; Barton, Nolan, Tiote, Jonas; Shola, Lover

This year = stronger. Simple as.

Well if you really wanna be picky. Carroll wud replace Lovenkrands in that team u mention. Thats a stronger team.

I'm not naming the strongest team though I'm naming the one that we played most often. Lover and Shola both played more than 20 games.

Depends. He wont be in the Arsenal or Sunderland games but for all we know he could play 36 games this season (I know he wont but you get the idea).

No I mean if you were looking at last seasons team taking out Carroll and Ben Arfa and such...that wasnt the point I was making.

The point was the team heading into last season is stronger than this years...the fact Ben Arfa got injured and AC got sold is irrelevant

...u wudnt think we had a **** load of money pumped into the club.

There's one way to settle it:

Players who've left in 2011 v Players who have joined/been promoted to first team in 2011

Left: Carroll, Nolan, Kuqi, Campbell, Routledge
Joined: Ba, Cabaye, Vuckic, Kadar, Marveaux, (Gosling, Abeid, Ferguson, Sameobi)

    Carroll v Ba
    Nolan v Cabaye
    Kuqi v Vuckic
    Campbell v Kadar
    Routledge v Marveaux

I make it 4-1 to the new boys, and Ba isnt far short of Carroll.

Vuckic was here last season. As was Kadar. Your missing out that Barton and Enrique will be leaving soon. And Ba aint gonna touch Carroll in a Toon shirt, just my opinion dont be upset anyone.

    Need to revise that slightly.

    Carroll v Ba = Carroll
Nolan v Cabaye = Depends on ur point of view Nolan had a lot of goals in him and influence and driving force. Cabaye more creative. Evens?!
Barton v Marveuax = Barton. SM is a talent, but ud have Joey everyday of the week.
    Enrique v ...???... = Enrique

Barton and Enrique havent left yet, and even if they did you have to give them time to find a replacement. Kadar was out on loan and both him and Vuckic were injured last season.

I truly dont think uve grasped the concept of this article.

It was the team going into the start of last season, ok? Compared to team going into this season, ok?

Wat happened during last season isnt the point.....as is what might happen this season.
