Hope you guys don't mind me mentioning this on here, but thought it would appeal to any dart players we have amongst us There's a darts tournament this Saturday (details below) in memory of Garry Jenkins who was one of the miners killed in the Gleision mine tragedy last year. Garry was a good friend of mine and our darts captain in the Tawe/Amman Darts leagues. Last year, we held a charity tournament which raised over £6k for the fund and attracted local celebrities Eve Miles (Torchwood) Steve Meo (High hopes) and Steve's co star in High hopes Bob Blythe (***an) It also attracted a host of Welsh internationals including former BDO world finalist Marshall James, but was won by local man and fellow good friend of Garry's - Ashley Pascoe, who anybody playing in the Swansea super league will be aware of. This year is the first of what I'm sure will be many Garry Jenkins memorial tournaments as it has been recognised by the BDO and will carry Welsh ranking points, so I'm sure there will be some top talent on show for this one. Cheers Edit: Forgot to mention, any businesses wishing to sponsor a board, you can do so for just £25 by phoning Bird on 07549828268 1st Gary Jenkins Memorial Open Darts Tournament. This is just a memorial tournament that I think will grow year on year, especially as it carries the ranking points, so not looking for money. There was a miners appeal fund which has now closed after raising over £1 million for the families of the four. I just wanted to promote the tournament to anyone who would be interested in participating and help the event gain some momentum. Apologies if my reference to last year's tournament being a charity event caused any confusion
