Did anyone else notice that Anton gave his shirt to a little girl in the R Block on Sat I thought it was a nice touch at the end when even though he was hurt he came over the other side of the pitch and passed it over to her, he could have quite easily gone down the tunnel and got the treatment that he needed. That little girl will never forget that and it just reminds me of when we were in the lower reaches and the fans and players were more as one with Gino always coming over and signing shirts and having pictures taken with the younger fans.
Yeh, good to hear! Ferdinand went up a few notches in my book Saturday. Re, the handshaking, it is good he did what he felt right. He had a great game, best ever for us I think, did very welll when forced to play out right obviously in a lot of pain, and now you tell us this. Well done Anton!
I also noticed he seemed to hang a round a while at the end which seems to me he was waiting for the tunnel to clear to avoid any chance meeting which again seemed pretty mature to me.
Most certainly, his controlling and passing that ball in the last minute looked very painful. Cannot understand the lack of support for him and his brother when we are dealing with known low lifes like Racist Eyes and Cashley.
All Credit to him for not only sticking out the 90 but also thanking the fans at the end, had to be painful!
Popular opinion where I work (mainly Scum, Spuds,Scousers etc, you know, glory hunters who have never been to a game) is that the Ferdinand Brothers are the ones with the problem. Apparently Anton should never have testified as "what goes on during a game should stay on the pitch" (no, really, this is what they said) and that because Terry was found not guilty Ferdinand should have shaken his hand to show there were no hard feelings. As to Rio's actions calling Cashley a coconut was worse as it wasn't in the heat of the moment and tweeting his comments was slander. It goes to show how far we still need to go when comments like this are so popular. Many of the knuckle dragging Scum supporters also thought it should all have been sorted out between JT and Anton in a back alley with what ever tools they had handy. Nice.
I get the feeling Anton gets a lot of jip around the changing room about his relationship with the fans. He really does milk it and personally I love it! Before the match he does a excruciatingly slow jog over to the R Block which gets us all chanting his name and does the same on other side. And after the game he's always the last player back to the changing as much like Nedum Onouha does a lap of the ground. Personally dont blame him for milking it. God knows I would!
Can't say I've seen anything in Anton Ferdinand's response to the Terry issue that discredits him in any way. Let the offender do all the talking and kept nicely schtum throughout. Some seem to think it was Anton who brought the case against Terry. It wasn't. He was called as witness. As for concerns about his performances in the past, I haven't seen much to blame him for. Our defence was leaky because it was often poorly organised with substandard GKs behind them. Not surprised people thought he stepped up a gear on Saturday. Much better quality around him - and a bit of a game plan too.
Right on both counts. Having Cesar at the back has transformed our defence. Paddy wasn't all that but Green looked shell shocked, needs a psychiatrist more than a goalkeeping coach.
Fair play to him. More players should do stuff like that for the fans, its the least they can do. He put in a top performance yesterday and showed what he can do when he puts his mind to it. Gino is a top bloke, Ezwoldo. He drinks in my brother's pub in America where he runs his own Soccer camp. When I get over there I'll be sure to get a photo and stick it up here.
Did see that, what a nice gesture. And regarding the handshake saga, just watched some footage back and Ashley cole spits when Anton gets to him, guessing as a stupid mind game. Just interesting to see how pathetic they all are.
This whole thing has reignited the hatred In a new generation of players and fans between the two clubs, although as if it was ever extinguished haha!
LaLa, just pop over to the Chelsea Board at any time and you'll see whether or not there's any ass-kissing going on.
Anton is a top player and a top professional, have backed him from the start and will continue to do so.
