Taken from The Scotsman, 22 May 2012. "Robert Snodgrass was speaking at Hampden, where he attended the Tesco Bank Football Challenge involving children from 30 different schools across Scotland. The event is part of a four-year community programme run in partnership with the SFA for Primary 2 and 3 children." So the following are direct quotes from a current LUFC player, who we all regard - as does Neil Warnock - as the best player at Leeds United. Many of us expected these things to come to lihgt after players had left, or even managers, but now we have our best player stating the same while he is still with us. This is a new low for Leeds United FC, and those who back the current chairman should be seriously considering their values and what they want from the club. Because they are swimming against the tide, and this information from Snoddy will completely enhance the LUST movement. Fans - it's time for you to stop feeding Bates his lines, and to make your concerns and protests known much louder and much more financially felt - stop buying the product, let's starve him and Harvey out of this club. ROBERT Snodgrass has cast fresh doubt on his future at Leeds United after revealing he is sceptical about promises being made to him about the future of the club by chairman Ken Bates. Rather damning indictment against the way the club is being run by our chairman and owner. But Snodgrass remains unconvinced about the level of investment in the Leeds playing squad intended by Bates this summer. "But they told me the same type of plans the season before and it didnât work out. So itâs hard to buy into these things again." Robert Snodgrass is clearly pissed off with the lies he has previously been fed - and he makes it clear that he has been lied to, and no longer believes anything the club says to him anymore. This is so damning. âThe Scotland manager has told me a few times that there is a window of opportunity for progress. I need to think about that as well. Itâs hard for an international manager to throw a Championship player in at the deep end for some of these big World Cup or European Championship qualifiers." Even the Scotland manager has told him that staying at Leeds United is harming his career chances. Warnock has publicly promised Snodgrass he will help him get a move to a Premier League club if Leeds fail to win promotion next season, but that cuts little ice with the former Livingston player. âHeâs already said he wonât be sticking around as manager for much longer,â said Snodgrass. âWho knows whether heâs got one or two more years left at Leeds? If itâs one year, and I donât sign the contract, then Iâll be free next year. If I do sign, Iâd have another year left and be in the same situation I am now. âSo itâs alright for him to say he could get me a move, but if he leaves, then the people up above him in the football club are not going to worry about what he said. My future doesnât lie in the hands of Neil Warnock, itâs in the hands of Robert Snodgrass.â This is exactly what some of us stated at the time - Warnock's short-term contract and short-term outlook is irrelevant to a lot of players, and cuts no ice. This is a damning indictment of the whole strategy of Leeds United FC, and the way it is being taken forward (or backwards). I don't understand how anyone can back Bates after hearing this direct from the mouth of one of our current players, and the one everyone believes is our best player.
The same fans will be telling you Snod was overrated and shouldn’t have been holding the club at ransom, wouldn’t have fit Neils plans for next term, cant even make the Scottish team blah blah blah. Fortunately, most on this board dont fall into the category above but theres still plenty of blinkered fans out there that wont realise the **** we are in until we are in a dog fight & then that will be the players fault for not performing please log in to view this image
Funnily enough, that is my view of him anyway - too slow and can't cross the ball properly. But every time I say that, he then plays out of his skin - so maybe just too inconsistent from my view. But I am not the manager, who believes he is the best player. And for the best player to be saying this stuff about the club and the way it is being run is damning
Even if he is overated he is still heads and shoulders above most we have. Sad but true. I said on another thread how this must look for potential signings and it cant bode well. Also heard a rumour the Warnock went bat **** at Harvey for his inability to offer decent contracts, fair play if its true someone needs to have a word. Serious question, the way things are going do you see Warnock here at the start of the season?
I always feared we could go into the new season without Warnock, I hoped they were false fears. I too feel Snoddy is a little overrated but still a worthy addition on the pitch and yes by a mile the best player we have but this isn't a case about money, it is about ambition and if he leaves because Leeds Utd show a lack of it then that is the nail in the coffin until Bates leaves the club.
This is a 'come and get me' message from Snodgrass and nobody should blame the player himself if he leaves. Two things I really don't get is why an experienced, straight talking old timer like Warnock would take on the job to make him the most successful promotion manger on record when he knows he hasn't got the finances here to do it,surely he would bide his time for a few months until a bigger spending club came in for him? He must have had some sort of guarantee about his spending power before he agreed to come. Secondly whats Bate's grand master plan? if its just being a greedy b*****d and milking the club for as much as he can if he put a better product onto the pitch he would take more out of it all ways round.

It is an interesting situation (not from a leeds fan's perspective albeit, quite dissapointing, but from a view of understanding what is happening). I do fully believe that Ken Bates isn't taking us where we should be heading and I'm confident I have always said that. That said it doesn't mean that we can't progress under him and this is why I think fan's reactions have made things worse if anything All of the quotes that you have taken have then been followed by the writer's opinion (or rather the quotes followed the writer's opinion) which immediately makes the reader feel the same as the writer. This just makes me annoyed by reading it, you haven't given people the chance to make up there own mind about his quotes, rather shoving it down the reader's throat of what your opinion is. A lot happened last season which would have dissapointed most players and fans. What I think when reading those quotes (I read the quotes by themselves prior to this) is that he is considering all options and waiting to see who we sign but isn't feeling all that confident about Leeds United at the moment, that can be good, is probably bad. The Pearce signing must have helped the cause, the fact we havn't added to that is what I think snoddy is worrying about. I don't think anyone can question Snoddy's impact on leeds united so whether he is the best player we have (which I think he is) is kind of irrelevant really, no leeds fan in there right mind would want to see the back of him (disregarding his value obviously) Bear in mind I haven't specifically expressed an anti or pro bates view in this post
No you haven't Josh, I applaud you. But I will take you to task on slating me for providing my opinion on the comments. That is the prerogative of anyone on a debating forum. There is little worse than someone who just does not provide any opinions and sits onthe fence. It was very clear which bits are my comments and which are snoddy's through theuseof italics and using quote marks. If you can't handle that clarity, get back to school
Alternatively Josh, you could access the original source, take direct quotes, and plug in yourown opinions. Even maybe have it asyour own thread
bit sensitive are we? I'm not saying don't put your opinions in there. And to be honest you didn't provide a link so I wasn't sure whether this was a copy and paste from a website where someone had already put in there opinions and you were agreeing with them or they were your words. Either way, the writing style is that of someone who is trying to convince everyone else to believe in there way rather than opening it to allow others to think for themselves. Trust me, I have studied a hell of a lot in writing styles And I shared my opinion on snoddy's comments. I mearly said that I hadn't said anything positive or negative about bates in that post and tell me where I did and I will concede. Snoddy isn't definitely going, we need to show ambition to keep him. I think the biggest problem with this is everyone's standards around the club have dropped which means its hard for them to look at a 'big' signing with the confidence of securing him
it's down to lack of effort put into keeping hold of McCormack and others. Snodgrass has asked for ambition. He's repeatedly said along the lines of "last season it was me, Gradel Howson and Johnson. Now it's just me", insinuating he wants the club to show desire to keep together the unit of the best players which I'd consider to be McCormack Snodgrass and Clayton - they gel together brilliantly and seem to have a good understanding while all being very talented players - and the club has disregarded it, assumed all he wants is money, thrown a high money offer at him and not bothered to pay much attention to keeping hold of the other two.
As I have said before, individually these decisions weren't wrong. Getting rid of gradel at the time we did wan't necessarrilly the wrong thing to do, neither was howson. But when you pair all of these together then thats when its just a case of way too many times. You must ask questions of the club when things like this continually happen Again, individually getting rid of mccormack and replacing him with the money we earn from that deal wouldn't be an entirely bad decision. Its the gelling process that we as a club seem to forget about. You want a core of players and you want to keep those core of players or atleast fight to keep them, we don't do that enough
You're really full of ****. You clearly know very little about grammar and style, and as you are the only one to suggest there is anything but "quotations" and then "my opinions", your argument is dead in the water. Again, someone trying to argue the person rather than the content. Sad. You just stick to playing with your cucumber up Bates's arse and then licking it clean
. Honestly thats a ****ing desperate post. You have only ever argued me and never my post, yet you have just said that. And for you to say I clearly know very little about grammar and style suggests your an idiot. I'm not one for blowing my own trumpet but I have been very highly educated on the matter and have taken a lot of courses in higher education regarding writing and writing styles. I'm in a job that requires me to be very good with writing You have this vision and you go berserk when people state something against you. You go mental about bates and whatnot because he is trying to manipulate people into his style of thinking but then this whole original post was trying manipulate the way people was thinking as well. Your a hypocrite, you've always tried to make people believe what you want them to believe. I don't even think I was being rude in my response, I definitely wasn't trying to be anyway and you have come back highly offended and highly aggressive. I think you need to get the sand out of your vagina and calm down and let other people think and put there own thoughts forward
